How long term? The IUD has already been mentioned. Reversible how quickly? Some hormone methods are long term, but they either have to wear off or be surgically removed. While I doubt this is an option, it is an accurate answer: abstinence is very easily reversible and is quite reliable. That is all I can think of. Talk with a health care provider such as a doctor for more options. The IUD is not appropriate for everyone. It's not a bad option either.
While some vasectomies and tubal ligations have been surgically reversed, they should be regarded as permanent.

IUD's are supposed to last up to 10 years, depending on the brand. I had one for a while. I did love it, until I got a tubal pregnacy. I had to have the dead embryo removed and the IUD taken out.
With IUD's you run the risk of Pelvic Inflammatory disease, and tubal pregancies.
You should really be talking with your gynecologist. He/She can explain what is on the market today, and the pros and cons of each one.

Yes an IUD is long term. I have the Mirena and it is good for 5 yrs. I love it. I no longer suffer from PMS, cramps or heavy periods.
Getting my IUD was not painful.
