First of all, be careful ANYWHERE in the world if you're alone, not just in Italy. The most dangerous thing about being alone at night, in Italy, is not being inside a public place, but out in the streets on your way back. What will most likely happen if you're in a club alone is that as soon as a group of guys will see you dancing or drinking alone, they'll come and chit chat with you. Look at them and if they at least look safe, you can start up a good friendship. I doubt girls will start a conversation with you, unless you do it first. Guys in their 20's that go to GOOD clubs (and not shady places) won't bother you if you don't want them around and you tell them. Obviously, keep in mind that people in clubs are drunk and on drugs (the drug usage in Italy is very high!). Girls have the so called "gut feeling". We tend to know who to trust. But if you just wanna be 100% safe, a close friend of mine lives in Rome and is a DJ. If you go to his bar at least you'll be able to talk to someone in English and know that you'll be home safe a few hours later :)
P.S. How about making friends online before you come to Italy? But again, be careful for sexual predators. Make sure you're becoming friends with the right people.

I'm guessing your a female, so I'll direct my answer that way...
As in all places, keep your wits about you, etc, but I'm always reluctant to say don't do something, just because you're alone. Having said that, I've been in Italy the last 4 months, travelling with my boyfriend. However, I do go out without him at times, and I've had a lot of hassle with the Italian men. I'm probably being overgeneralistic here - I'm really not talking about all italian guys, but enough to make life a hassle. There really IS an assumption (by some guys) that a woman travelling and clubbing on her own is "up for it". If you are ... I don't think safety will be too much of a problem. If you're not (or just not with a particular guy), I would suggest that you'll spend at least some part of your night trying to fend off guys who will first give you a compliment or two, and then follow you home and try and get in your front door. In my time there, I've had a stranger headlock me on a train station to try and kiss me (i was alone), and of all people, my hairdresser there started to move his head & shoulder massage to be breast and shoulder. Yes, in the shop. I had a girlfriend travelling alone who thought she was safe by going to a bar and making friends with an Italian couple. The guy took his girlfriend home, came back to the bar, tried to pick her up, then followed her home and tried to push his way into her apartment.
My recommendation... make a friend before you go clubbing. Even if it means chilling out on the spanish steps for a while and chatting to some people there.

Rome Hotelbye com today is certainly one of the most important tourist places of the world, as a result of incalculable immensity of its archaeological and art items, as well as for the appeal of their unique traditions, the sweetness of their breathtaking opinions, and the majesty of its great parks. One of many things must see durante Rome is Campo de'Fiori. Campo de'Fiori is a rectangular square south of Piazza Navona applied as a marketplace through the day, and party main for university students and tourists at night. The name indicates “field of flowers” and was initially provided throughout the Middle Ages when the location was really a meadow. Still another place worth visit is The Roman Forum. Positioned in the small pit between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, The Roman Forum was for ages the teeming heart of old Rome and nowadays is a expansive ruin of architectural parts

I lived in Italy for two years. It's not common there for women to go to nightclubs (called discos) alone. However, you could definitely go to a wine bar and/or aperitivo place for a drink or two. Chances are good that if you speak English when ordering, look at a map or rifle through a guidebook that some Italian guys (never girls) will start chatting with you in English. Hang out with them in very public places and take taxis home (don't let them walk you) and everything will be okay!

Come in Friuli many nice and respectful people, anyway ...
I traveled a lot around the world but I always refused to take others people bad experiences as something that could happen to me, I would say be careful, but don't be scared, stay out of trouble, but see if there is anyone you feel trustworthy, usually is someone who is not pushing you in anything you don't wanna do. Take care, I hope I have been of help.
