Birth -- an infected mother can transmit the Hepatitis B virus and Hepatitis C virus to the baby during delivery or shortly thereafter.
Infants born of mothers who either currently have acute hepatitis B or who have had the infection receive a special immunization series to prevent viral transmission. This includes administering hepatitis B immune globulin and a hepatitis B immunization within 12 hours of birth. Please consult your doctor.
Please see the webpages for more details on Hepatitis.

If it's hepatitis B, your baby will need a post exposure shot(s). If it's hepatitis C, there is an <8% chance of transmitting it to your child. You said you had hepatitis once; if so, you should have a "reactive" result to the antibodies, but it's possible you've cleared it on your own, in which case you would have an undectable viral load. You need the viral load test to tell (it's called a PCR test). If you are "non reactive" to the antibodies test, then you haven't had it or been exposed to it. I would get retested, if I were you. It's not making sense to me. Best wishes to you.

you could have hepatitis c...or b. hepatitis a is from fecal matter in contaminated food (food poisoning). hep a runs it's course.

if you have hepatitis c, the doctor will probably want to do a c-section...babies born this way to infected mothers have less a chance of contracting hcv.

if it's an inherited problem, there's a chance your baby could get it as well. But if it's just something that came up due to lifestyle or bad luck, I wouldn't worry too much. Talk to your doctor to set your mind at ease.

OMG How horrible for you. I am sorry. I know that a friend had Hep C and they told her if she had it while she was pregnant that the baby would have been born with it. Her 2 daughters did not have it so they told her she must not have had it then.

ARE YOU PREGNANT? IF NOT YOU WAY WANT TO DISCUSS THE RISKS THAT IT MAY BRING TO A CHILD. SECOND, ARE YOUR FINGERNAILS YELLOW AS WELL? THIRD , DO YOUR FAMILY HISTORY INDICATE LIVER DISEASE?
