Yes, his true feelings of contempt came to the surface in a moment that his awareness failed.
He's a liberal elitist and he actually believes that he's superior to everyone else. You can tell just be lookng at him.

Kerry makes a better gigolo than he does politician! The fact is. he's not very bright, however he was smart enough to scam his way out of Vietnam with his three trumped up wounds that never required hospitalization. And, he was politically connected enough, even back then, to apply enough political pressure on those who approved three Purple Hearts, which qualified him to leave the war zone and return home.
His attempt at humor was a feeble attempt to discredit GWB. Boy, talk about backfire, he couldn't have done himself more harm if he came out and said how much he hated GWB for beating him out of the presidency. Well, he did it to himself, and this time, he's made himself a political leper.
His attempt at humor, at least the analogy he used, became obsolete when the draft ended. So, unless it was intended only for GWB, he sure didn't think that one through.
It's now up to the liberals of Massachusetts to decide if Kerry stays or goes. Then again, the swimmer still has his job!

He did it more than once during this recent fiasco. After hearing his comment, I initially took it at face value to mean that he believes military members are uneducated and the reason they are in the military is because they couldn't cut it anywhere else.
Later he came back and said:
"If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me, who's been fighting my entire career to provide for veterans, to fight for their benefits, to help honor what their service is, if anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops serving in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, they're crazy,"
According to Kerry, anybody who took his statement at face value is either stupid or crazy. I find it ironic that he perceives his own inability to accurately articulate his thoughts on the intelligence and education of others as an accurate indicator of anyone's intelligence or sanity.
If you are an ignorant person that cannot effectively articulate your thoughts, you end up being a politician with a bleak future.

Besides being an idiot, he just didn't read the script right, he was trying make a joke about Bush and misread it. It took him a full day to explain himself, but the foot was already stuck in his mouth. We don't get all excited about all the goofs Bush has made, but either way, Kerry's still an idiot.

There is no way he can keep his job after this insult. Not only the soldiers he has insulted, its there families too and what about them folks who have lost sons or daughters? and also them vets who have come home with wounds from the action they served in.Im now convinced he faked that purple heart, because anyone who really had served and been wounded would never be little the soldiers who are doin a very difficult job in very dangerous circumstances. They need our full support at this time and not the idle comments of a power hungry old man.

How does George Bush keep his job after all his verbal gaffs? Admitted, Kerry's "joke" was blown, but I don't think his intent was to insult soldiers. He was a soldier after all. That's more than you can say about George W. It doesn't bother me that Bush was in the reserves during the Viet Nam war. Everyone who wanted to avoid service got a student deferment, failed a physical, got a high draft lottery number, joined the National Guard, or beat it to Canada. His problem is that he didn't show up for service. The only thing he can prove is that he went to military dentist in Alabama.

WAKE UP! HE WAS INSULTING BUSH!!! He was a soldier and a decorated one at that. Men under his command speak very highly of him. He has a great record for supporting verterans (just look at his votes on verterans issues). His remarks, if you read the whole speech, clearly indicate he was blaming Bush for getting us stuck in Iraq. His apology also makes this clear-- he apologized for not speaking clearly enough, for his words being too easily misconstrued to sound like he was talking about the soldiers and not Bush.

Absolutely, John kerry did insult our very smart, and brave young American hero's. We should slap a pair of BDU's on him, and make him serve in Iraq. Maybe then will he get a different picture of what our troops have to go through.

The democrat party leaders despise the military and all it stands for and kerry just slipped and let his true feelings be known. He's done this since 1971 so his history proves this.
He keeps his job because when a democrat screws up this badly the media circles the wagons to protect him. When a republican screws up this badly he has enough character within him to remove himself from office. That word, character, is not in the vocabulary of liberals.

I doubt insulting the soldiers was on his mind at the moment. What I think he was trying to do is belittling the integrity of the ruling government in America, which is rather well deserved on the republicans side because they have not only let your country's economy crumble little by little but also managed in making people's lives all over the world nothing but miserable. And people, please do not let these republicans fool you into voting for them again. If not for your's for the world's sake.
