When I was in college, going for a degree in English--Creative Writing, I read over 650 short stories. This added professionalism and elegance to my writing. My profs and fellow students would comment about my work after class sessions, such comments as, "That was my favorite short story for the entire semester, " or "You write with such emotion." In recent months, I began to read The New Yorker magazine in order to improve my vocabulary so my writing can emulate that posh and erudite style its authors have.
I recommend you do a lot of reading but also writing daily. Words are the tools we use. And the more tools in your toolbox, the more your writing will be extraordinary.
