Does anyone else find it just a bit hypocritical that the AMA and feminists were once against abortion because

1) it denied women their personal rights
2) demeaned women and made them 2nd class citizens
3) was atrocious the way they were treated by abortionists
4) was atrocious in the percent of women who (a) died as a result of an abortion or (b) suffered medical injuries that were nearly impossible to repair after an abortion.

There are a few other things that are hypocritical about abortion.

If you have a tooth pulled, you have to get informed consent. Little or none is needed to get an abortion.

We are not told how many women die from legal abortions but it is far more then most realize. Often the real cause of death is covered up.

Someone dies in every abortion. Often they are unborn women. What about their rights in what should be the safest place for them...their mothers womb.

They are not informed on the possible and probably long term effects of abortion. I have worked with dozens of women who have regretted having an abortion years after the fact.

They often accuse men of demanding a baby be aborted simply to avoid paying for it but these same people scream bloody murder if the father tries to prevent his child from being murdered.

I think it's kind of ironic that the AMA would have such an opinion of a medical procedure that if done properly and in a sanitary environment by conscientious medical professionals would have rendered the last two points moot.

It was only because of hatchet "doctors" operating out of suitcases in clandestine settings that women ever suffered the way they did.

What I know is that it was once (not so long ago) illegal for women to obtain birth control to prevent pregnancies.

I find this topic laden with venom and as my feelings about abortion have changed a great deal since having children.

I value life. End of story.

i personally could never have an abortion ,,,,,but i feel that people who scream out against it and use guilt and religion to stop abortion are the real hypocrites .
instead of tactics that are unloving ,there should be ways of HELPING,teaching others about having children ,naturally birth control is the first step ,but what about the young ones who get caught ,have no money ,no where to go ,are AFRAID possibly to tell their family ????
people who can simply JUDGE these others really to me our very ungodly ,they sit in there comfortable houses ,with plenty of food to eat and think EVERYONE is like them .
there needs to be intelligent and humane help for these people with this sort of decsison ,people like to condem this action but they dont put money up to help these girls have the children ,put them up for adoption etc etc ,they dont get a LOT of choices because they are already labeled as whores ,loose ,etc etc etc .
until we can start making these young women think about choices and HELP them and teach them then i think all the religous zealots ought to simply shut up and put their money where there mouth is ..................
it is sooooooo easy to condem and spout out against something like this ,,,sure it is ,,,,,we can see it is not a good thing to have abortion ,but where is the help instead of building more HUGE churches and recreation buildings.that too me is hpycritical .
shame on them for condemning.......
walk in their shoes ,afraid ,homeless, penniless,or lack of education ...............there has got to be a better way ..................
and last but not least ,each soul who makes this decsision it is between them and God and i would like to think God is a forgiving understanding spirit ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
