I would suggest using a dab of mousse. It's not sticky like gel or pomade and hairspray irritates skin and can become inhaled.

It depends on how young your child is. Very young children have very thin delicate skin which absorbs a lot of what you put on it into their bodies, including through the scalp. It is best to not use styling products on children under the age of, say, 3 years old.

Beyond that age, there are styling products out there created specifically for children and balanced to their delicate skin and hair chemistries. Try one of those before trying something formulated for adults. Adult products are generally much harsher.

If you are trying to curl your child's hair and make it stay put, here's an old "pageant mother" trick that really works quite well. Mix a tablespoon of sugar into one cup of water and put it in a spray bottle. Mist your child's dry hair until it is damp, and set it on sponge rollers. When it is dry (let it dry naturally please - no heat), take the rollers out and finger style the hair. The curls will last for hours without any other styling product.

What kind? A baby might become irritated by a hairspray when he/she breathes it in. Babies also have very sensitive skin and things with scents or chemicals can give them a rash. Hair products are designed for older people so I probably wouldn't. Unless you got something organic or all natural from a health or holistic store, then maybe.

Yes-but don't use adult - strength items, see if you can find anything in the Baby section, such as Johnson & Johnson.
Check labels: When I was babysitting a 5 year old she wanted to dye her hair. I was afraid I might not be hired again, and I didn't want to disturb her Mom by calling. I saw a label that said ages 8
& Up. So that was my loop hole. But moral of the story: Check labels for age appropriateness.

My goodness why on earth would you want to?!!!
Babies are very sensitive and styling products are very harsh chemicals.
If you must use anything in your babies hair try olive oil or coconut oil. Both will prevent cradle cap and condition the scalp and hair.
