I don't need another load of answers either telling me to consult a doctor or take a 'reality check' - I know everyone was only trying to help but I need to solve this problem another way....I can't go on feeling like this it's killing me....

The reason I don't want to see a doctor is because I don't want to be drugged up or deemed mentally unstable! I know that sounds a bit extreme but it's how I feel, I'm a believer in the holistic.

Go see a psychiatrist - or lay off the drugs! You obviously can't work it out for yourself, otherwise you wouldn't be asking for help on a site like this where people can give you all sorts of bad advice.

yeh... hello... I assume you've been trying the self-help routes without much success. So here it is... What you want is like trying to fix a shattered leg bone by thinking it better. Sure, it'll probably mend, maybe you'll be able to hobble for a bit before it breaks again. Or, ya know, maybe they'll have to be chop off your leg to save you from the infections you couldn't will away. If you are bi-polar it is a biological/chemical imbalance that you cannot decide to make go away.

Work on getting over your prejudices and stereotypes of what mental illnesses are and what appropriate medication does! No one other than you and your doc need to know that you're on medication and LOL it's when you are NOT treating the illness that you prove to people that you are unstable.

Btw, if the meds turn you into a zombie, then the meds or the dosage needs to be adjusted. That's what pdocs do, so get over yourself and go see one. And guess what, a good therapist isn't going to want you on meds if other alternatives are as effective.

I bet you feel your parents have let you down. That they don't understand you. Do you have trouble feeling you belong? Do you find it difficult to understand why other people seem happy when they should not have any reason to?
I'm sure you don't want to hear about reality checks because what that's really telling you is that it's time YOU did something about it. This is not a RPG, this is life. You have choices about yourself now. Life is not really like TV. I know it sounds crass but just have a look at your own questions in your profile: How can I get in touch with the producers of friends? What's the best RPG? My boyfriend's parents don't let me in their house any more to watch porn? What's the best film to see before you die?

Start living your own life now and stop trying to create a life to live.

If you don't want help, you ARE the only one left.

Been there, done that - bought the book - it worked. I bought the book [and don't let anyone put you off it!] It's called The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peal. It changed my life and gave me a new way of looking at myself, and life and the universe. It talks about 'higher powers' at times but you can ignore that if you aren't a believer. Read a chapter a night. I bought it when my son had cancer, then I bought it for my mum when she had cancer 25 years ago [she's 97 now!] and I've used it myself now I'm trying to survive infestation by aliens - hence the avatar! You can do it - 'The woman who thinks she can is right!' and 'you can control the circumstances in which you live, or you can let them control you' Good Luck - you can do it without drugs - I did! - and do! In the meantime till you get the book, first of all count up all the good things in your life - you will find them, and write them down. xx

You need to focus on you and getting yourself happier and don't feel guilty about it.

It takes time to get out of a real low doom like feeling. The more i pretended to be happy, the worse i felt.

I found that creativity and nature were the two best healers.

Reading, listening to music, writing anthing down, watching comedy films or ones that kept my attention. A good bit of escapsim. Visited a free art gallery. Sometimes just getting imersed in stories about other people's lives got me out of my depressive mindset.

You are on yahoo answers so at least you are interacting with people.

I also looked to nature - sometimes a walk- it's free and looked at trees and flowers and the sky, took a deep breath and felt how lucky i was to own a view to the sky.

I sometimes listen to relaxation tapes and have a shower or bath with aromatherapy bubble bath etc.

Give myself a manicure or a facial etc Just one thing a day to treat myself and make me feel special and glad to be alive.

We are all a bit mad in this world- so join the club- just try and laugh at it all!

all the best- get laughing if you can!

You have a mental illness, its nothing to be ashamed of. I know that you don't want to hear this, but ask for professional help. If you are prescribed drugs, ask about side effects and how long you have to take them. You shouldn't try to solve the problem by yourself. My brother has had two breakdowns, he got help and now he is ok. So it can be conquered, it just takes time and alot of care.

What other way do you think there is? There is therapy, drugs or dealing with it yourself. I go to therapy and try to lead my life in a way I know will be beneficial for my mental health. I avoid too much stress, things that make me unhappy such as a job I would not enjoy, a bad relationship, etc. It is all common sense and only you can know what makes you well and unwell. Good luck

good for you! you should believe in natural herbs and therapies, they are healthier and actually help you without side effects.

search for a psychiatris who works with homeopathy, a holistic medical doctor, a naturopathic physician, osteopathic physician, or a chiropractor. herbs are the answer in the long run; they are gentler, freer of side effects and nonaddictive.

consider reading a book 'healing anxiety with herbs' by harold h. bloomfied. he writes a lot of books on treating anxiety naturally.

good luck and hang in there. i suffer from anxiety and depression and a few extras, and i believe in holistic medicine, too. =)

Find an activity that doesnt require much effort but keeps you busy. You wouldnt have the time for your moods and depression. Slowly with time these feelings will go away. They take time. Also if you have a guy, go talk to him, make love, it helps.

You recognise the problem. That's good. Now, you have to train yourself to ignore it. It's hard. You'll still feel this way but, you have to say "**** you! you can't control me" and eventually things will start looking up.

I have the same problems but, with a little mental will power I can have a choice most days.
