Yet when it comes to your own magic sky-pixie, you stubbornly refuse to see reality. Why is that?
Are you incapable of applying reason when it comes to your own set of superstitions? You're certainly capable when it comes to someone else's set of beliefs. Why not your own?
Look at Hurricane Katrina for example. Were it not for the advanced warning that human science gave to the citizens of that city, there would have been a LOT more deaths. Even those that prayed and followed your cult died horribly because they believed that god would help them.
I know what you'll say, you'll say "god cannot be judged by mere human standards of morality" yet that is exactly the standards that the faithful use to establish his goodness in the first place.

We Atheists are merely in touch with reality. It is you, shamefully, that cannot stay out of touch with the world of imagination and fantasy. Do try and apply a little logic to your religion, just once. You'll be surprised at the results.

Silverbir...
I'm trying to put it in terms that they will understand. I am forced to over-simplify for them. Otherwise they just won't get it. Look at the first answer for example.
But you are entirely correct.

Cindy,
I see that you've completely neglected to answer the question. This is typical christian behavior. Whenever someone asks you to think about your religion you quickly try to change the subject or insult the asker.
You have my pity.

Mynicname, newcovenant, arewethereyet,
Could you PLEASE try and answer the question? I know that it's standard practice for you christians to obfuscate the issue in order to avoid actually thinking for yourselves, but please, for once in your lives, try and stick to the subject. Ok?

The age old plea for rationality. Unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears, believers really do not think that way (rationally that is) as it must be clear to you by now.

The out and out bible thumpers just make no sense at all but even the liberal moderate believers eventually pull the faith rabbit out of the hat, the only way they ever 'come around' is if something very personal happens to them and the scales really are lifted from their eyes.

Edit:

The first answer has now been pulled, this is now the first answer!!

If I had a nickel for every time someone tried to sell this line... yet it fails.

"Likewise, other religions found everywhere try to counter the restlessness of the human heart, each in its own manner, by proposing "ways," comprising teachings, rules of life, and sacred rites. The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men." (from Nostra Aetate, Vatican II, 1965)

We Christians have more in common with people of any religion than you do with any of us - Muslims, Jews, Pagans - any philosophy convinced that a human being is more than a chemical accident and a being of inherent dignity - I can relate to them far more easily, no matter how they name the divine.

Are you asking a question? sounds like you know everything already. God is not in the sky or the cosmos, infact he does not even live in the same physical dimension as us. if you are looking for him here in this 4 dimensional spacetime continuum, you will not find him unless you look inside. Then he may appear in this dimension if your heart is pure and good. Belief in God means very little if you do not act. Many will believe, but do not understand his will. Only fear of the lord is true understanding. You thirst for truth, i commend this. I was once athiest myself, you are being logical, seeing is believing and this is fine. But there are many things you cannot see, this doesnot mean they are not true. The very fact that you have such a question tells me you want to know more than most people, you are on the right track. Do not close your mind to the possibility of all things. Lets not say that there is no God, for you just do not know. I think it would be wiser for you to be Agnostic.

If atheists are so in touch with reality, then how did an atheist invent Communism and oppress most of the upper Eastern continent!

The problem with Atheists is they think religion and religious people are horrible and imperfect and all atheists are saints. Well it ain't so some of your saints include

Mao, an Atheist
Stalin, an Atheist
Lennin, an Atheist
Ho Chi Min, an Atheist

Now, people explain these wonderful NON-GOD beleiving people!

And we can't help it if people WANT TO LIVE in the REGULAR PATHS of hurricains, tornadoes and Earth quakes. That is the choice of those people.

There are other, safer places to live.

My religious belief system is founded on faith. I do not begrudge anyone the ability to pray to whomever they wish or to pray to no one if that is their desire. I do not care to have my religion ridiculed but I also know that God can take care of Himself so I will just deal with my own faith. I spen t 2 years studying Latin in High school and as a side we had to learn about Greek and roman Gods and Goddesses. I found it fascinating. And if someone today wants to pray to Zeus, then power to them. Everyone should be able to take whatever path they want and not be ridiculed or belittled for it. Including atheists. It is a shame that not all atheists can be as tolerant as some of us Christians, and vice versa. By the way, I have at my disposal great deals of rational though and reasoning capabilities. I simply believe that some things defy rational thought and faith is one of them. To have faith is to believe without seeing, which is a giant leap for most.

There is a rationale that this question has a few surprise have an impact on. There is a monstrous change among Christianity and Anglo paganism, however the query signifies that they're alike. So how does this assessment maintain up? I might remind Godot that the Christian canon isn't verbal historical past, however a booklet which has been to be had in textual content to be tested by means of anybody interested ample to seem into it. It tells a unified tale although written by means of 40 authors over many centuries. The men and women, locations and subject matters that run by way of its sixty six books, the prophesies and histories contain so much of the recognized international on the time and far of this historical past is verified by means of archeology and historic histories equivalent to that of Josephus. The prophesies contain international locations and old figures like Cyrus the Persian and Jesus of Nazareth. The so much spectacular prophesy to me is the only written by means of Daniel, a Jew in Babylonian Captivity, who stated that 483 years (in his phrases sixty nine "weeks of years" - lunar years) might go from the time of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the approaching of the "Anointed One". The commencing of the prophesy is dated with parties defined in Nehemiah two:a million-eight and the achievement corresponds with Matthew 21:a million-7. In reality, the prophesies that had been written in Babylon might provide an explanation for why shrewd guys from the East knew of the megastar's value and got here requesting the one that is born "King of the Jews." It may be exciting that the very scripture that testifies of Jesus's coming is maintained to be actual by means of a faith that does not even feel in him. See Psalms 22 and Isaiah fifty three which describe his crucifixion, and Micah five:two which describes how the only whose "origins are from of ancient" will pop out of Bethlehem. How precisely does that evaluate with a verbal culture approximately Thor who rides his chariots pulled by means of goats by way of the sky and was once killed by means of the serpent Jörmungandr? TO OG: Whose device are you? In the phrases of Bob Dylan, "you are gonna must serve a person."

No, we no longer read your questions, because you always ask the same thing, and use the same immature belittling
approach, instead of just stating your point if view.
We have answered you more than once. The Book says there are gods MANY. Powers and Principilaties. And TRUE Christians
aren't the ignoramuses many think we are. The "gods" do
exist. But we do not get "awestruck" whenever we meet a being
from the dimension just above ours, and fall on our face and
worship them!

Christians are no different than Atheist. We as humans are looking for answers. Christians have found them, and atheists haven't. I pray that you will see the truth before you end up in Hell. Satans biggest accomplishment has been to convince folks like you that there is no God. There is one answer to what you call logic and that is found in the Bible: 1 Corinthians 1:25, 27-29

ADDITION: Since you want to be logical, you need to re-phrase your question. Since the definition of atheism according to Webster is: "lack of belief in God or active disbelief in God" your question is irrelevant since we do believe in the one true God. If you are going to be an atheist, you should at least know the definition thereof! Satan truly has you blinded.

what's with atheists always trying to disprove our religion? whether you're wrong or not isnt rlly the problem here. its how ignorant you could be to other peoples beliefs, its really peoples beliefs in some cases that keep them doing good things in their lives, if no one believed in god (or id say if there was not a god) then there would be psycho chaos everywhere because there wouldnt be any religious laws. and hey, what if jesus is the son of god, what if there really is a god in that case... wouldnt the logical thing to do be to atleast keep to yourself so "just incase" we're right you dont have that good of a chance of burning in hell?

I think CNN's Anderson Cooper or whatever he's called standing outside in Hurricane Katrina saying "yeah man, it's really blowing" did a lot more to make people stupidly think that they didn't need to leave town than God did.

I won't comment on the rest because reasoning is not the point, and atheists are just as illogical as theists.
