My good friend is getting married and since I can't make it to the wedding, I am trying desperately to think of something unique and personal to give her that isn't from her registry. I want to show her that I am thinking about her and I really want to get her something extra nice since I can't be there for her wedding. I'd prefer to buy something online.

Any suggestions?

How about a personalized keepsake wine bottle like this http://www.giftweblog.com/2006/10/06/personalized-wine-art/

I advise not to get something that is not on her registry. Trust me, I got married last year and there were a few people who got things that were not on my registry...like an apple peeler-corer-slicer, and I don't even make apple pies! What was I going to do with that? I ended up getting two embroidered afghans with our names and wedding date on them. Why do I need two? This is what happens when people stray from the registry. The couple registers for things they need for their new home and for things they want to start their life together.

I suggest getting something from the registry because I think she will appreciate that. If you still feel the need to get her something personal, get something small to add on to that gift such as a wedding-themed Precious Moments figurine (so cute!) or maybe a pair of nice wine glasses for the happy couple.

I recommend sticking to her registry also. Couples spends a lot of time creating them and they are the things they really want. If you choose a kitchen or bedroom item(s), it's something she's going to see and use everyday. She'll remember you many times when she sees/uses the item(s). That's what I do with the beautiful things I registered for!

If you want to get her something that's just for her, get her a token gift. Try looking for a little trinket at TheWeddingOutlet.com. You could also get her a gift certificate for something you know she enjoys, or something you used to enjoy doing together. Did you go to a specific restaurant together a lot? Did you go to the movies? Does she like to read? A twenty-dollar gift certificate with a note telling her to enjoy some down time would be sweet.

Good Luck!

A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

Check out this site: www.paintyourlife.com

The prices are reasonable and the outcome is amazing.

You are the one who knows your friend - what things does she like?

What is your budget?

What about something from trade aid?

Victoria's secret?

Get her the "something blue" to wear on the day - she will remember that - it can be jewelry, lingerie, garter - use your imagination.

depends on your budget; you can buy her something from gold; like a bracelet or nice necklace; if you don't have that money; then get her something for the house; something that she might use everyday; like nice bed covers that goes with their room...
