You are only 14 years old my dear. Although there are things you already know so well and you think that you can stand by your own decisions, still you are not that tough yet. Your mother is just training you in a way in which she knows she should have gone herself. Because our Mom created Jesus the way they are. read Psalm 32:8. If a child lives with approval, he learns to live with herself. By the way maybe your mother didn't see you yet that you can already decide for yourself, that's why. So as soon as you prove that you are already grown up and do whatever you want and she knows it then maybe she could get to trust you more then you can do your thing. You just have to prove your mother that you can, and never fail her to earn TRUST and be independent.

I have a stepmom who is very protective of my 3 brothers and lil sis. I'm 23 years old and i live on my own ans she still phones me and checks up on me everyday and always asks where i am and that. When my 21 year old brother goes clubbing at night she stays awake all night till he comes home or even with my lil 17 yr old sis, its good that way cos you know that parents are there for you, better that than parents who dont care.

maybe you could talk with your mom- did she experience a bad thing as a child? do you live in a questionable neighborhood? are any of your neighbors pedophiles/ rapists out on parole? maybe one or more things apply, and your mom does not want to scare you with the info- but keeps you under lock and key to protect you- she does love you or would not go through so much to keep you safe- ans lets be honest something can happen to anyone at anytime- but talk to your mom----

How old are you?

My parents were always overprotective, but it was only because they loved me and wanted to look out for me.

Explain to your mom how you're feeling and why you should be able to go out. And if she really thinks you should go with somebody, why not as a friend or two to go to the mall with you or the movies...or wherever you are wanting to go.

I never really went out and did things on my own when I was younger. It was always so much better with friends.

Your only 14, your beginning to open your wings and Mom is afraid, who wouldn't be? there are so may weirdos out there that we the responsible parents worry alot.
So talk to Mom and try to reach an understanding.
Good luck.
