if a woman proposed to a man, should the man not get the ring? or something? Well the man then when out an got her an engagement ring (seemed to be the right thing to do) however even if hes was or wasn't the one to ask the question, should he get something to mark this special occasion? I've heard things such as a watch or bracelet? Any advice would be welcome...

YOU get a wife.
That is what you get to wear on your arm.
A wonderful, thoughtful wife.
A woman who is smart enough to pick you as a husband.
Instead of an engagement ring, why not a cool trip to someplace warm to celebrate the engagement?

I would wait. You say she's going to move in soon--that's going to be a "make it or break it" time for your relationship. I assume you want to move in together before marriage to find out how well you work together. It's totally understandable, but at the same time there's still the possibility that something could happen and you'll realize you aren't compatible. Like someone else said, put the money in an account where it will gain interest and wait until the moment is right. You can always find a good deal somewhere if you're willing to shop around. If something does happen you will NOT be able to return the ring or sell it somewhere for anything close to what you bought it for--even if it has never been worn. It's not worth the risk.

Usually a watch or an ID bracelet with the couple's initials on the bottom...or even the date she proposed too.

My boyfriend proposed to me last month, bought me this beauiful daimond ring, i thought that he should've had something to mark the occassion as well so i bought him a man's commitment ring which you can get from argos or a jewlery shop.

I proposed to my husband and I got him a leather wallet engraved with his initials. He loved it and still has it now - 4 yrs later. If you don't like the wallet idea, get him something that he will appreciate and personalize it if possible.

An engraved bracelet would be nice. Never heard of this, though.
