Sikhs belive in God only and not Prophet at all. Sikhs origin is from Hinduism only.
"Worship and prayer and one's relationship with God is central to the Sikh faith. Here are some of the basic principles of prayer as practiced by Sikhs.
Sikhs believe that a true prayer is a wonderful channel through which the powerful love current flows from the humble and yearning heart of a sikh to the Lotus feet of his beloved Satguru. It unites the Lover with the beloved Satguru in a true bond of love relationship. A sincere prayer from the heart cannot go unheard, unheeded and unresponded.
A true prayer is a total submission. It is the total surrender at the lotus feet of the Lord. It rises from total humility of the heart; 'I' ego and 'Haumain' remains neutralized. There is no assertion of individuality. A true sense of meekness or nothingness takes over during prayer."

Sikhs believe in a bit of Islam and a bit of Hinduism, basically there was a really good bloke who teached and practised the good of Islam and and the good of Hinduism his name was Guru Nanak - when he died the Hindus tried to cremate his corpse claiming he was a Hindu and the Muslims wanted to bury his corpse claiming he was a Muslim but hen he was alive he never really sad what he was - anyway to avoid a fight some bloke turned round and said "no he was a Sikh" and then a group of people started following Guru Nanaks ways and called themselves Sikhs! - That's where it all started. There have been no miracles or signs from God, the Granth (Sikh holy book) was written by normal everyday people (10 of them).
If you go into Sikhism you will see it's a bit of all religions. I was a Sikh and found it wasn't fulfilling enough for me therefore I researched other religions. I saw the light and turned to Islam and now I am a very happy Muslim.

The Sikh religion is the youngest in the world with over 20 million followers. It originated about 500 years ago with Guru Nanak who was a Hindu. He taught Muslims to experience God though themselves without separation. In other words, we are all one created by One Creator of all Creations. Guru Nanak aligned with no single religion but accepted all religions and acknowledged different paths in the Name of God's truth. So, YES, Sikhs believe in God.

The founder of this monotheistic religion was Nanak. Devotees call him Baba Guru Nanak Dev ji. He had one point agenda:To destroy the heinous Caste System in Hindu religion and to make them shun the idols and pray to One Unique Deity named WahGuru. Guru Nanak went to Makkah for Hajj, so he must have been a Muslim. In his hymns, Baba Nanak mentions the Quran, the Muslim Prayer(Namaz) in positive words. The then Moghul rulers of India at New Delhi received (wrong) reports that the followers of the Nanak were a threat to Mogul totalitarian rule. They were oppressed, and suppressed, somtime brutally. BEARING IT NO MORE, THEY DECLARED THEMSELVES TO BE NEITHER HINDU NOR MUSLIM BUT OF A NEW RELIGION: The Sikh religion.

The person who told you to go to a mosque needs to check out thier religions - muslims go to mosques, Sikhs go to temples...sikhs belive in one god and there have been 10 gurus who wrote thier holy book. They do not belive in 'prophets' in the sense of Islam does.

A prophet is a messenger of god, so believing in a prophet or prophets is believing in their words thus believing in the messages they bring, messages from god.
