what medication(s) are you taking. if you're taking an anti-depressant, it takes a good 6-8 weeks for you to feel the total clinical effect of this classification of drugs. hopefully, you are receiving medication for the anxiety, also.
it's none of my business, but the drinking can intensify the effects of the medications you are taking. alcohol is a depressant. it can cause the depression and anxiety to become exacerbated.
i suggest you get to see a psychiatrist ASAP. discuss all your symptoms with/him/her and let them decide on a recovery method best suited for your needs. don't try to solve the problem by yourself. it doesn't work that way. depression, anxiety, and alcoholism are major problems that need to be addressed and monitored by a trained doctor.
in the eent that you are entertaining negative thoughts about suicide, please remember, SUICIDE IS A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO A TEMPORARY PROBLEM. fight to live. it's bound to be difficult, but you deserve the right to live your life free from these three crosses.
best of luck!

You said you 'stay' in India. Do you live there or are you there for a short time and will be going back home to your family? While you are there you need to make your life better on your own. If you don't have any friends you should try to make some and with people who do not drink alcohol. Socialize with them as often as possible. I'm not sure I'm understanding you, if you can afford to drink alcohol why don't you put that money to better use? Try taking classes somewhere in something that interests you. I don't know much about India but there must be places of interest that you can go to. In your question you have the answer, you said "how can I help myself"? That is what you need to do since you are alone. Help yourself. YOU are the only one who can change your life for the better. God Bless and good luck.

This is a very hard situation you are in, you are not alone. It's good that you came to YA to talk.
Are you still drinking alcohol? If you are, then I think this is where you need to start. You see not only is alcoholism in itself a depressant on the brain but it also stops medication from working. Is there a facility for alcoholics where you can get support? Facing alcohol problems has to be your first step.
I really understand how hard this will be because at the moment you probably rely on it to erase the day and your thoughts etc. But to fight your depression whilst drinking so much is near impossible.
'Turn around' look at your alcoholism and depression and say to them, 'right, now I'M coming to get YOU!'
Please see a doctor as soon as you can....this is your path to normality. It will be very hard but YOU CAN do it......you really can. To day is the first day of the rest of your life....all my good wishes go with you on your journey!

I am 52 years old. For nearly 50 years I suffered from depression and later, alcoholism.
Two years ago I went in AA and my life has turned around completely. I believe the depressant affect of alcohol simply aggravated my depression. The two went hand in hand.
First, you need to become physically fit. Then you will become emotionally fit, then you can become spiritually fit.
Good luck.

Hi Max, I am your co traveller of sorts in this debacle.
I too had some of these problems. Hence I developed pleasant hobbies like surfing, long walks , reading & Movies.
I enjoy Yahoo answers, Orkut, SHVOONG & other Forums.
I am taking CIPRALEX & TRYPTOMER daily for depression, though the dose has now been substantially reduced by my Neuro.
God will give you relief as He has given to me Insha Allah!

Either get a puppy or a girl/boy friend (whichever you are, or, wichever you prefer). There are many ways to do this. My advice to you, is get someone/thing you can have company with, and go out together and DO SOMETHING. Garden, rake the leaves, go for a walk, go to the park--anything..just do something. But, as you do this, stay on the pills, just to help you out. GOOD LUCK!!

I'm wondering why you have absolutely no one to talk to about this. Maybe try checking with your doctor. I'm not real sure on how to help. But I do know this: I'd be lost if I didn't have family to lean on at any given moment.
Good luck, dude.

You won't be able to do this alone. Check around and see if there are any support groups, free counseling services, etc. in your area. Good luck to you.

You need to talk to someone perhaps a counsellor maybe. They may not help you much but atleast you let what ever concerns out of your chest.
