Usually, red meat goes with red wine and white wine goes with fish and chicken. Personally, I do not like white wine that much, so I drink red wine with every thing, also rose wine.

I did chill red wine before. Later, I discovered that I am not the only person in the world to do it. When I was in Italy, a restaurant served me chiller red wine. Try chilling red wine, you might like it.

As a rule, if you like sweeter wines, avoid Cabernet Sauvignon which is on the not so sweet side.

When you visit a liqueur store, ask them to recommend a sweet wine for you. More often than not, they will recommend good stuff.

Stella rosa is a great sweet wine that you drink chilled. Also red or white Electra are good. Identify by the angel on the brightly colored label. If you want white, spatlese or gewurztraminer are nice. Spicy mexican or chinese foods go very well with sweet wines.

Yellow Tail makes some yummy wines that aren't over priced. They seem to do that hint of sweet in their Chardonnay that isn't too over-powering. Of course if you are one of those "fruity" people I recommend Arbor Mist over the Boon's Hill stuff. Boon's is apple wine and can give you an awful rot gut. *bleh*

Sweet food makes sweet wine taste less sweet. If you have, say, a California Chardonnay that's a little sweet, as many of them are, it may taste oddly sweet with a piece of grilled swordfish. But put a little mango-red pepper salsa on the fish, and the wine will now taste miraculously dry.

Personally I prefer the Dark Red Wines with Steaks... a Merlot with New York Strip, medium rare... and roasted potatoes. *mmhm*

Why do you think you need to sip wine after a hard day work? As a cure all? The best way to drink wine is just to enjoy it. Try the Italian spumantes I am sure you'll like them and they go with any kind of food, specially pasta.

A very cold White Zinfindel or blush wine is really good.it's not really sweet but it won't give you a really bad sugar wine headache. Cheeses, breads and cold meats{coldcuts} with crackers are always a good idea when drinking wine.

Rieslings and chenin blanc are nice. If you like it sweeter than that, try the french muscats or the two californian muscats made by Boony Doon Vineyards.

Food wise, just about anything creamy is great with sweeter wines. Try some soft cheese like brie, with fresh fruit ( avoid citrus fruit) and bread or crackers. Cheesecake is great too.

If you happen to try the black muscat by Boony Doon, it goes great with anything chocolate.

Sangria is a good wine and you put fruit in it. You can look up recipes online I'm sure and it's definitely sweet.

If you like Reds, try a Shiraz from the Western Cape of South Africa.
