Sesame Street is always good. Clifford, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train. Or you could do a simple First Birthday Theme. You can usually find plates and napkins that say 'Baby's First Birthday' or the like. Cut number ones out of construction paper for the invitation. Theme everything around being one. Then when your son gets older you can theme his birthdays around his interests. Just remember to have fun with whatever you chose. Hope that helps. Take care and have a good time.

For a 1 year old, try Sesame Street or Little People (that's what we did for his 1st birthday, very cute)

My son will be three in about 4 weeks. I'm trying to find a cake with Thomas the Tank Engine, Jay Jay the Jet Plane, or Bob the Builder. So far, no luck.

Bob the builder, Blues Clues, Spongebob, Dora, Diego, Thomas the Tank Engine........ I agree though with a lot of the posters on here. I wouldn't go all out on a first birthday party. He's not going to remember it, but if you could find a cheap table cloth and cheap paper plates with a cartoon character on it it would be worth it. Try your local dollar store first and see what they have as far as selection goes. I would save the bigger birthdays for when they get older and can remember what they did:)

My step mom makes cakes for a living so we had her make a cake and just got some cheap bright colored pink and white balloons and had party hats. She refused to wear a hat on her first birthday, but everyone was so busy with HER it didn't matter.

Keep it simple for his first year, Its better for everyone to remember the little one and not what theme his party was. At mine i just had balloons and still everyone had a great time, anyway there were busy fussing over my baby.

If your so needy of a cartoon character Bob the builder, Thomas the tank engine, Dora the explorer, or just plain pirates :) its hot for 1 - 3 at the moment.

Happy birthday

Thomas the Tank Engine is a very good theme for little boys. So is Bob the builder. Both of my boys love trains and Thomas items are becoming really easy to find.

Whichever theme you choose, I'd recommend keeping the party simple and fun. You're building precedent. It's hard to have a huge party this year, and a small one next year. If you start simple, it'll stay simple.

He won't know the difference anyway so I would just get brightly colored plates and balloons.
