Most people don’t understand the word cult as positive as it is in the dictionary. The meaning most people make of the word is different cults are wrong belief In God. They like to use the word to discredit other religions so their religion looks better. It only creates religious hate and ignorance. Religions that harm people physically or emotionally or perform some form of abuse are what I term as evil Cults. On the other hand religions that help motivate people to live better lives are Healthy Cults. I hope were all in a healthy cult. However most religions have a bit of both so it is gray. Religion is a human and Devine element, the human part is prone to corruption this is evil cult practices.

In New Testament time the early Christian church was considered a cult.

Modern Evangelicals have tried to control the number of people who believe that there is only one church by calling anyone who claims there is only one church a cult.

Nobody wants to be a member of a cult. However the bible itself says there is only one church, one faith and one baptism, but how many do modern Christians say there is? Hundreds and even thousands.

Read Ephesians 4:4, 5, 6,and ask yourself how many one is.

So with all the different various churches and beliefs about baptism that is water, sprinkling, necessary or not holy spirit baptism, which one is the ONE in the bible?

Only a problem when certain people put a negative connotation on the term. Some only associate cult with the occult. Vastly different meanings and intent.

I am a member of the Buckeye cult, not to be confused with the Michigan occult group! Go Bucks!

Well, I do not know which Dictionary that comes from, but I'll accept it to a point.

A Second Definition is that a Cult is a Sect of a Religious Belief System that deviates from the Teachings of said Belief System.

Dictionaries are written by atheistic English teachers. Do not believe everything you read in them. There is a big difference in a religion and a cult. A cult has a secret agenda, whereas a religion is out in the open.

The meanings of words change through time and end up with multiple meanings, or the meaning they want you to know.
The word "occult" is simply Latin for the ENGLISH word
"hidden". It means "hidden from view or understanding".
Today, they want us to think it's only the Dark side of things.
A "cult" is a secret group. Not that many groups don't try to
get people to think the way they want. Nevertheless, cults are
groups you never hear about until something crazy happens.
Like they all kill themselves or someone escapes and
tells about the beatings and sexual manipulation, and things. Those are cults.

It's not. However to really think about the term cult comes to mind deadly kool-aid, bombed out shelters, mindless people. The social meaning of the word cult is as I have listed.

I assume you mean why is it a problem to all the religions that they're considered cults.

Number one, it's because, in some manner, they all preach that theirs is the 'One true religion, personally given to them by God." It's amazing how God gave this to so many different men, in so many different ways. Hmm, just suppose there might be some untruths somewhere, or hidden agendas?
Religions are the oldest and most succesful businesses in the world and still thrive today on a global scale. The great part of their success is due to man's fear of death and his failure to explain his existence.
Most believers are indoctrinated from birth and will die for these beliefs, even although they are offered no solid proof whatsoever for what they're asked to believe.
A Priest once said, "Give me a child from birth to five years old and I'll give you a Catholic for life." This applies to any religion or belief.
They are simply told to "Have faith," the key word being faith, which literally means "belief with no proof."
To insure their members obedience they invented a place called heaven, and a place called hell for those who disobeyed. Streets paved with gold and angels wings...for what purpose? But, I guess when you throw in 13 virgins...well then!
Burn in hell with the devil for "eternity"...wouldn't 5 minutes be enough? A devil with horns and a forked tail...yeah, right! Different religions have different commandments, names for places, etc. Notice how their members are always required to support the leaders in the most lavish manner possible. Most cults require their members to turn over everything they own to the leaders. See how powerful their promises can be? The fear of death is the strongest we have and if you can promise an afterlife, people will follow you anywhere, at any price. Check back with me, as I'm starting the "Church of the Loan and Guarantee" and will be soon accepting members. You loan me your money and I'll guarantee you get to heaven.

To sum it all up, religions were orginally created to control the masses and their money back in a time when 99.99% of them couldn't read or write, and they flourish today with the same great success because people simply will not use their logic and common sense to think for themselves and let their wisdom guide them. They go on the premise that if it was good enough for Mom and Dad, then it's good enough for them.
I understand how hard it can be to break family tradition and become an outsider, but the greatest minds in the past did just that and left the legacy of a much better world for us all.
I believe that something absulutely incredible created this mind boggling universe, but I'm not so stupid as to say that I know what, or who it is. Guess what? Neither do you!
I do know this, though. Whatever it is, it gave me the most important thing of all in order to evolve to my fullest potential. It's a "bullshit filter"...my BRAIN! You have one too, use it. Cults and religions are all pure BS. Get over it! And, they count on you not using yours.
The only truth is mathematics! Period.
Your love, happiness, and satisfaction should come through time spent with your loved ones during this incredibly short time we have here together, and not to have to go through horrible war after war based on absurd religious beliefs. If there is life after death then so be it, but no human being can give you any such promise for any price.

If you've found yourself in a state of rage from reading this, and you most likely are if your cult or religion teaches that anyone who disagrees is "spawn of the devil" or some such ridiculous thing, then you need to expand your mind, and ask why you're letting someone else control it.

I thank our soldiers for preserving our right to speak our minds.

Only someone insecure would have a problem. Frankly, I view anyone who calls all religions to be cults as silly intellectual wannabes. Sort of their own tweed jacket wearing Starbuck's drinking cult.
