Though there is uncertainty about how God’s name was pronounced in ancient Hebrew, its meaning is not a complete mystery. His name means “He Causes to Become.” Jehovah God thereby identifies himself as the Great Purposer. He always causes his purposes and promises to become reality. Only the true God, who has the power to do this, can rightfully bear that name.—Isaiah 55:11.

Unquestionably, the name Jehovah serves to distinguish Almighty God from all other gods. That is why that name appears so often in the Bible. While many translations fail to use the divine name, Psalm 83:18 clearly states: “You, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth.” During his ministry, Jesus Christ taught his followers: “You must pray, then, this way: ‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.’” (Matthew 6:9) We should, then, use God’s name when we pray, speak of him, and praise him before others.

Jehovah's Witnesses are being called like that, because they are witnesses of God Jehovah. They want people to know what God's Name is. How else can God's name being sactified?

The American Standard Version uses almost 7000 times the name Jehovah, as does the New World Translation wich is published and distributed to more that 235 countries in many languages.

That the King James version leaves the name out of it, shows that the writes gave in to the churches wishes to leave the name out. In the origional text the Name is used almost 7000 times.

Even in Afrcan cultures and countries, the Name Jehovah is known throughout history.

Like in the movie with Indiana Jones he has to follow the steps of Jehovah, but in Latin it was spelled wit "Y" So Yehovah. In English it's being accepted as Jehovah. In Italian it's Geova, In Danish and German it's Jehova.

If the name is so formilliar to people throughout history, (The Jews know the name very well, but decline to use it because it's to holy to pronounce or writing it down) than why should people nowadays remove the name?

In Denmark, the name Jehovah is even linked with one of their kings, Christian IV, as he has inbedded the name in many churches and royal buildings throughout the country. (Christian IV lived in the 16 century)

In The Netherlands you can find the Bible museum in Amsterdam, where you can find the name Jehovah.

The name is recognized by many scientific and religious authorities.

So think again, The Name is very important to us people, because that is how The True God distinguishes himself from the fals god's.

How would you like to go in to history?
As Captain? Chief? Sir? Or as Robert, Hendrik, Christian, Ali, Sara?

It distinguishes you from the others when someone is calling out your name. Isn't The Name of God not more important than that of us people?

I trust what you're announcing. Christianity is nonetheless an excessively American faith. What makes America is not just the intelligent atheist scientists. I imply suppose approximately it, in the event you had been a genius astronomer... do not you suppose you could suppose within the significant bang, and do not you suppose you could become aware of that carbon, oxygen, and different imperative factors for existence could come from comets and different matters in area? Its as an alternative seen the universe wasn't created in 7 days. It honestly does not make experience to mention the universe was once created in 7 days on the grounds that The first day would not also be a "day". A day is relative to our sun process. The solar emerging and atmosphere, so "days" wasn't even a usable label of size till the sun process was once created. But besides, It is smart the scientists are atheist. They are not smarter on the grounds that they're atheists, they had been continuously intelligent. Much smarter than you or me without reference to our faith. Also again to the American tradition: Christianity is seventy eight.four% of America. So if all of us "left and went someplace else" that could outcomes in seventy eight.four% of America leaving, which it is easy to most effective assume the fiscal and neighborhood problems that could carry up. Also it could simply in no way occur. Christianity is almost all, sure a few men and women which are Christians are closed minded and suppose the Bible is one hundred% the reality and refuse to be given medical info. Catholics had been the final religion to recognize that the arena honestly is not the core of the Universe... I imply come on. So i am getting wherein you're coming from, however to mention why do not Christians up and depart... that is only a very uneducated and closed brain query which individually makes you simply as dangerous because the closed minded Christians. So my query to you is: if you do not find it irresistible right here in America, and you are dissatisfied with all the Christians (seventy eight.four% of the populace) then why not percent your luggage and depart. Seriously tho, Christianity is tough to discover within the core east, I recommend you cross there.

It is just a matter of using different words or names that mean the same thing. Over a period of time civilization has done this in many writings. Jehovah means Lord, God, etc. Remember we all speak a lot of different languages. And the Bible has been translated many times. The main thing is that you realize the Bible is the word of God or Jehova. And that Jesus saved you.

The name was removed because of Jewish superstition. As the Jews gradually drifted away from serving Jehovah according to the Law of Moses, they began to think that God's name was too precious to say or write. This was, of course, wrong because according to one of the ten commandments, the divine name was supposed to be used, not abused. See Ex. 20:7. The translators of the King James Bible and even the Revised Standard Bible went along with that superstition and removed the name from their versions.

Hi.

The tetragrammaton YHWH is actually a more accurate rendering of the divine name.

One could ask the question, "Why do Jehovah's Witnesses insist on rendering the Greek word kurios as Jehovah in their New World Translation when it is not in the original text ?"

To know God's name as in a title is not enough. To know Him by reputation through the scriptures is not enough. To know Him personally through faith in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ is eternal life.

I would respectfully ask, do you know Him ?

Do you have God's free gift of forgiveness and eternal life through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ ?
