No. They can cause conflicts and lock up your PC. It is best to only run one at a time. You can have both, but only have one active at a time.

I agree with the others....You can run EACH separately at separate times...

You can use AVG by Grisoft to monitor your computer while your surfing or downloading email, it is a better program. I had it and I liked it....but they NAGGED me for money daily!
That hacks me off....

So, I went to the web, compared Anti-Virus software and >>>BitDefender<< was the highest ranked, WITH the BEST PRICE!
And I bought it....It's so Seamless I don't even know it's working in the background until I hit a website that TRYS to install spyware/worms etc.... Then it just pops up a few boxes stating it blocked it....

Once a month I'll run a Virus Scan from BitDefender....some stuff pops up as Spyware. Hmmmm how did that happen? Well, I found a Window ScreenSaver my wife downloaded....BEFORE BitDefender was installed!!

Ah Ha! Get rid of the program and VOILA! No more Popups.....

And guess what....I WAS a Big Fan of Norton....But it Crapped out so many times and RE-INSTALLING it became a Cryptic NIGHTMARE.....so much so, that I took it off my computer, ripped it out of my Registry, and STILL had Norton HIDEY-HOLING around my drive!!!!

They are as bad as AOL uninstalls!!

Don't use two anti-virus software at the same time.

I read many review that says that Avast can find more viruses than AVG. and from my own experience I have found that Avast is much better.

I agree that it is not sensible to run two av programs together. The main reason for this is that they will certainly conflict with each other and probably cause frequent crashes (if you are running xp you will alread have enough problems). Another reason, and a definite cause of crashes, is that av programs use alot of ram- running two together will use most of your ram causing your pc to run slowly and eventually crash due to lack of memory. This is especially true if you are running Norton, which is notorious for hogging memory and is expensive and has poor updating schedules.
Personally I use AVG and have done for 6 years during which time (early on- before I understood what I was doing) I have only fallen foul of 2 viruses. I believe that there is little to choose between AVG and Avast but I prefer AVG for it's ease of use and frequent updates. Personally I use the free version and have not been pestered for money.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards, Tony

AVG is crap ware. so a techniques i accept as true with greater than a number of the posters right here. in case you choose risk-free practices that works you choose a paid version of Avira or Kaspersky. individually, i like Kaspersky the main suitable. in the experience that your computing device is sparkling it relatively is going to stay sparkling with Kaspersky. I relatively have had it now for 2 years. 2 virus unfastened years. i will declare that with Avast or AVG. get rid of AVG on an analogous time as your forward. in case you shop it it relatively is basically a count of time until eventually now your hopelessly contaminated with Trojan mal ware. you will get a scourge everywhere on the internet. some places are worse than others. you choose something that works. no longer some little kiddie AV.

It is my belief that by using two anti virus programmes together you will encounter problems there is a good chance that they will conflict with each other

dont do that ... antivirus programs only protect you so much anyway and good practice and common sense is the other half of it ... get a good antispyware app to go along with ur antivirus and a software firewall ...
