I've smoked premium cigars for over 20 years and have found that the best aroma generally comes from handrolled maduro cigars. Maduros are the cigars with dark wrappers which range in color from dark brown to nearly black. The dark color is due in part to a longer curing process. There's a misconception that the darker cigars have a harsher flavor and aroma; just the opposite is true. I've found that a maduro cigar provides a richer, nuttier flavor with no harsh notes. And the aroma is thick and fragrant. The reason, I think, is because the maduro wrapper often is more oily than, say, a cameroon or natural (brown) wrapper cigar. Brands which offer excellent maduro cigars include Ashton, Onyx, Fuente, La Gloria Cubana and Te Amo (all on the expensive side) and the less expensive maduros from F.D. Grave & Son.
Generally speaking, the more expensive the cigar, the better the aroma. For example, someone mentioned (jokingly, I hope) that Swisher Sweets don't have a bad smell. The fact is, cheap cigars such as Swishers, Prince Edward, Dutch Masters, etc. are machine-made, contain chemical additives and are made primarily of tobacco-flavored paper. (These cheapies stink for the same reason that cigarettes stink: inferior tobacco and additives such as chemicals and paper.) If some night you have an emergency poker or euchre game and need decent cheap cigars that are available at the local convenience store, I suggest Garcia Vega, Antonio y Cleopatra, or Topper -- all of which have a line of maduros.

Cheap cigars smell pretty bad. However there are some that smell kind of sweet like pipe tobacco. That said, a cigar is still something you want to smoke outside.

I know what u mean, i use to smoke with buddies cuz it relaxed me (not cuz i thought it was cool) but neway cigars give different types of cancers and health risks then cigs. No matter what, if the smoke goes into or around ur mouth ur going to get some in ur system trying to inhale or not + the smoke is around u when u blow it out, so ur inhaling it w/o even knowing it secondhand which is worse because its non filterd (filters do jack **** neways) socially ppl can go downhill because of the smells and hygene skin turns ugly teeth - yellow lips , hair go south ur breath goes to **** and the smell lingers no matter what also everytime i smoked a cigar, and go to the gym, i'd lose strength, stamina, and feel like *** besides, ur mouth is susceptable to cancer too...google it if your really concerned because its not worth doing really Have Fun email w/ questions or 4more info

My husband somkes those Black & Milds. They smell nice as long as they aren't damp. When he leaves the buts on the back porch, they scent kinda makes me queasy.
You can find them at Walmart & I'm sure other places.
