To say you have free will is just saying you are not a robot and you are allowed to make your own decisions. The law revealed to us that we are fallible and sinners and we have a need. God supplied the answer to sinful mans problem by coming to the world and overcoming sin and paying the price of your sin for you with his blood. Yes that which is sin is still sin however salvation is available to all who accept the atonement provided by God through Jesus Christ.

He was trying to teach us how to make the right , informed decision. Like a child, when you try to teach that fire is hot, will burn them and it will hurt and they go and touch anyway and get hurt. You couldn't stop them, they had to find out for them selves. Just having free will does not mean you are making the right decision. Anything that goes against the teachings set forth in the bible, catechism and church dogma should be considered sins. If in doubt go to confession. We are living in a culture of death. It started out with Roe v Wade and has escalated from there. Once we got use to the idea of killing the unborn we became callus towards life. We have evolved to assisted suicides and euthanasia. Yes having free will is a great thing , but but just because you have a driver's licese doesn't mean you should drive on the sidewalk.

It is not so much a question of having the free will to sin or not, as it is "having the free will to choose to believe in Christ" or not.
We are all sinners in the eyes of God and none of us are capable of leading a sinless life. This is made all the more clear by Jesus when He told us that we commit adultery by thinking lustful thoughts and that we commit murder in our hearts when we hate someone.
Rom 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV)
To choose to follow Christ is our reasonable response to His great act of love toward us, offering His Son, Jesus Christ to suffer the punishment for our sins.
So if you're asking instead, Why did God give us free will to choose Jesus or not?, then you need to understand that it is a love relationship that God seeks to have with us. In love God extends His grace and mercy toward us and it is in love that we accept His wondrous gift of salvation through Christ Jesus.
Any truly loving relationship can be entered into only by free will.

Because if you sin then you freely admit to knowing you are sinning and then it is your choice to decide if you wish to be forgiven or not. It is you choice to decide if you wish to accept Jesus as your savior or not. If He said you cannot have free will then everyone would be sinless because that would be his desire. He would prefer to give you the choice and let you decide to come to Him on your own rather than making cookie cutter Christians out of us all.

You're assuming we have free will, and we don't. We are so tainted by sin that we do not have the ability to choose God. He must choose us. By the way, the world doesn't want to be saved, so there is your "free choice" - against God, never for him.

He gave you freedom to choose whether to worship Him or not. As for sin, anything that makes you doubt God, is the devil. He does it in a subtle way or just right out, I guess it depends on the person. Some people are stronger in their faith than others.

Because He wants us to have the freedom to choose to worship Him and follow His way....if He wanted a bunch of robots, he could have created them as easily as He created human beings.
So, yes, there is sin, and we can repent of it and accept the way of life that Christ offers us through His grace and what He did for us on the cross and receive the gift of eternal life ....or we can refuse repentance and salvation and reap the consequences of our sin....which some people understand to be eternal death and some seem to understand to be eternal damnation...whichever it is, I don't want it, when there is such a great alternative.

Free will means He can't make you do anything you have to choose what you want to do like beleive in Him or follow his instructions because He is a jealous God and from experiences with jealous people they want to make you choose them and follow them .

so you can make the decision to love him or accept him on your own? it's satan who forces you to do things. see adam and eve had free will as well and god had forbid them to eat the fruit of the tree- so they had a choice.. either do right or else...
secondly if he created us then we also owe him that right to do his will and live righteously. your choice heaven or hell. it's not like he's beating you he's just saying that he wants you to live right how hard is that..
