She is a west highland terrier and known for this, and we have tried everything to discourage it, to no avail - in fact it is becoming a daily occurence.

Why don't you try rolling around in it. Maybe after the dog smells how bad you smell he'll stop. :) Maybe try fencing off any area in the yard for the dog to play where the deer and fox won't get in.

Oh I am so sorry - but the only way to stop it is to spot the fox poo first and keep the dog on the lead - they just adore rolling in the stuff!

I think it is so they scent themselves ready for a hunt? Disguising their own smells - anyway, it is something all dogs (proper dogs) seem to do!

And it totally honks - there was another question like this one and people recommended washing the dog in tomato juice to neutralise the smell - Hey - that is an expensive shampoo don't you think.

We try to relate to our animals like they are people, but it's all about their animal instincts. I had a problem with my dog eating the cat poo. They are dogs and do what dogs do. Get a tread mill and walk the dog inside.

Hi this is a basic wild instinct to mask there scent when hunting...years of evolution as not bred out this instinct & if they are inclined to roll then they will...just try to distract her when you see she is about to roll or use a flexi lead so you have the control when she's going to roll...

You will have difficulty. Dogs love this kind of thing. Heaven alone knows why.
