In Genesis 5:4. It says that Adam had more sons and daughters.
If you take the story literally, it means that Cain's wife had to be his sister.

Adam and Eve were long before the law and were different from us in many ways. they did not have the law to tell them what sin was the bible teachs that without law there is no sin. however without law there was no growth to become more like God. So while Adam and Eve ate of the tree of Knowlege of good and evil it was there first transgression against God as that was disobedience to God all of this was an example of the law that was to come. Now understand that even though the transgression was a bad thing it had a good outcome as they did aqure knowlege and later would aquire the law and would be less like the animals and more like God. Now also understand that Adam and the people of that day lived well over nine hundred years therefore the weded children grandchildren and great grand children and so on could be fairly distant relatives. none the less where there is no law there was no sin and those folks were not the same as you and I. Now God gave man the law not because man could live up to it but to show him that he could not. The bible teachs all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. But God knowing this provided a way for his people by coming to the world as a man and overcoming sin and dieing as an atonement for all who accepted it. each of these steps were a progression of man. the man befor the law the man under the law and the man who lives under grace. The next progression of man will be when he is granted a new perfected body. God is the same today yesterday and tommorow but mans realtionship wiht god changes and man himself changes.

It doesn't say that they were their only children; there was also Seth and then some. In fact, I imagine they had quite a few considering God allowed people to live several centuries (even over 900 years) back then. While Genesis details the story of Adam and Eve's creation, I have often wondered if God also created other people from the dust who weren't necessarily Adam and Eve's relatives. Just because their stories aren't told doesn't mean it didn't happen, but don't quote me on this, it's just a theory of mine.

A&E could have been the representatives of the first Homosapiens who God breathed the spirit of the ability to grow spiritually. It is my contention that there were other hominids existing along side Homosapiens. Eventually, these others died off, but not before Cain had spread his seed, instilling his descendants also with the spirituallity.
Hey, when you try to interpret an event that happened so very far in the past--you can make up anything! Now you know as well as I do that no one today can clearly and accurately know and understand what happened then. Everything are theories and suppositions.

Adam and Eve also had a younger son named Seth. The people back then lived a lot longer than we do now....I don't know all the answers, but I trust that God does...and that we have some missing information here in this story that only God has privy to. I am comfortable with that, but He sure has some explaining to do when I get to heaven....lol...but I imagine He is up for that!

Cain isn't listed in Adam's genealogy. Wonder why? Because he's not Adam's son. Cain was Satan's son. Satan impregnated Eve, like the nephilim (fallen angels) impregnated the women in Genesis chapter 6, where "giants" were born. Cain got his wife from when GOD told mankind to "be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth." He wasn't talking to adam and eve there, they weren't even created there yet. He was talking to the races (mankind). Then after that, he rested, then immediately following, he creates Adam. Cain obviously got his wife from when God told mankind to multiply on the earth. Adam and eve didn't "multiply and replenish the whole earth", God only gave them the garden of eden to tend to.
