if im claiming job seekers allowance and i fall pregnant can i get maternity pay from them?or help with money for the baby?

How can you get maternity pay, you don't work
And guess what ..... YOU DON'T GET MATERNITY LEAVE EITHER

Lucy you don't say what country you are in.... that would be of great help as every country has its own welfare system...
In Australia.... if you are on Newstart allowance (job seekers) then when you reach a point in your pregnancy where you cant work, they will request doctors certificates and you will be placed on Sickness benefits..... once you have the child, depending on your status (single or with someone) you will receive a one off payment for the baby which at the moment is $4000.00, and then will get Family Tax Allowance and if single will transfer to the Sole parents Pension.
But if you are not in Australia.. then sorry this information would be useless to you.

you cant get a maternity allowance until you have your baby, they can give you a medical exemption from job seeking til you have the baby so you just get your normal allowance. they can probably give you a pharmaceutical allowance but that might just be 5 to ten dollars extra to what you are getting now. but you dont get any funding for a baby til you are actually caring for a baby or child...

I assume you are unemployed. If this is the case, I suggest you speak with somebody at the Unemployment Office for options, if any. You may be able to claim the unborn baby as a dependent.

You need serious help and assistance. Visit a free clinic and speak to a doctor. She or he will put you on a course of action that can prevent your worsening your life and hurting others.
