try buying old blankets from charity shops they cost pennies and doesnt matter if they get chewed or wat about some straw.
ignore the poeple on here that think dogs were only bred to live inside you are not cruel letting your dog live outside.
what about all the top breeders i cant see them keeping all 15 or so dogs in there kitchen,do you?.

Before you go out give her a nice long walk - like any owner should - and get her some of those chew toys that you fill with biscuits. She'll be more relaxed and the toys will occupy her. As for locking her in the kitchen, i would suggest getting her a very large cage - that you also use for her bed at night. Or attach a curtain above the dorrway that you hang down and tuck under the stair gate to stop her climbing out.

Labs are notorious chewers and diggers especially in the first two years of their lives. Diet has a lot to do with shedding , you get what you pay for. Check the ingredients most dogs do better without wheat or corn in their food, also should be some type of meat meal not by product. also flea or tick control and not over bathing. To keep your dog warm the enclosure should be just be ig enough for your dog to curl up in to retain its body heat. There is also heating pads four paws has one that inserts in a pad that uses your dogs body heat and there are outdoor heaters for dogs that plug into an electric cord. Cover with old blankets, give good chewies or try a taste deterrent like bitter apple.

It would be in the best interest for you to re-home the dog.. Being stuck outside alone is just not good for ANY dog, unless it is a working dog (herding)..
You should have NO trouble re-homing your lab.. try http://www.craigslist.org put up a free add to find the dog a new home.. It is the right thing to do even if it is hard...

give her plenty of rawhides and chews out where she is at. A black lab has a thin coat but can adapt .You can put a couple of blankets and hay in where she sleeps.piece of advice she chews everything because she is craving attention. Make sure on cold nights that you do bring her in .take her to get groomed before you bring her in an that should help with the kids allergies. Keep her out of their sleeping area to prevent reactions. Maybe put a baby gate in the kitchen at night.if you take her about every 2 weeks to get her groomed meaning ,bath, vacuum to suck off the loose hair and high powered hair dryer. The most it should cost is about 40 bucks depending on the weight of the dog.Good luck to you.

Maybe if you take your dog to some obedience classes it may help. Also if you put hot sauce on the things like corners of cabinets, anything really, your dog will get a taste and most likely not be back to chew it worked for me.

you could buy her a nice warmweather prooff coat, also put a bail of hay in the shed for her,and a infared light, block anywhere were there is a draft, abig rubber mat layered with old carpet on the floor for her, and plenty off things for her to chew, like knuckle bones. hide bones if the dog gets enough long exercise should it stop her chewing, and what is the allergic reaction your kids get.best of look secret...

You should install a heat lamp = go and visit a local kennels and see how they do this... There are several kinds of lamp and obviously get it installed properly so it doesn't chew the cables. It is a shame she has to be an outside dog though!

I think the best thing to do is to find the dog a new home . She needs to be in a loving family environment not thrown outside alone .

Hi you needent worry about dog coats or things of that nature as a dog will grow the amount of coat it needs when it lives outdoors...
All your dog will need is shelter like you have with a shed...you can used newspapers or shreaded paer to combat the wet that she/he might take into the shed...
So just use plenty of paper & maybe close the dog in at night to help keep warmer thru the nights that are now getting colder...
