Not really an answer, but just a note to let you know you're not alone.

Our 9 year old female will typically go all snaky AFTER she's eaten. Neither my wife and I have ever had a cat prior to this one which has acted so crazy. Sometimes, she'll do the same after doing her business in the litter box....she'll come flying out of the bathroom, like she's been stung in the bum by a bee. And sometimes she'll do it for no apparent reason. It's like she can hear or see something we don't. :)

I think cats are a just a little mental. Of course, that's the charm of them isn't it?

My cat runs around before and after she gets her food.
I guess before she knows it is time and wants it she sits by me and waits every morning until I have finished seing to my disabled daughter then it is nuts time until I have fed her.
After she does the same rolls around scratches carpet and this is because she is happy she has had her meal.
Then it is in/ou/in/out munch/garden/munch/garden and then the lazy thing sleeps all day snuggled some where if she can get into a bedroom it is on a bed. She like to sleep high up like most cats.

My cat Bob does the same thing!! I don't know if there is a really anwser other then he's yelling at you to put it down. My cat has dry food out all day, but when he sees me with the wet stuff he goes nuts. I think they just like to tell you that they want it. Its kinda cute.

Because your cat is a little piggy who wants its din dins. Be grateful its runs round after food, when mine has a poo its goes made for 10 minutes and you can't be in the same room as it.
