Too much stimulus before sleep. i.e. watching noisy television programmes. Drinking coffee after 7.30 pm. Eating after 9.0pm reading exciting stories before sleep.
To remedy the problem, try not watching the TV, or tape things to watch at a better time. Cut out the late caffeine drinks, coffee, cola, tea etc. Read something peaceful before sleep. It helps to play a relaxation tape while in bed, you may fall asleep half way through it but that doesn't matter, as long as you get to sleep. If you lie in bed awake for a long time, you usually start to worry that you'll never get to sleep, so if you get up and make yourself a milky drink, that takes the pressure off you for a few minutes and the drink may help you to sleep. Good luck. I hope some of these suggestions work for you. (Give it time, your body needs to adjust to the new regime, after a few days you will start to notice a change!)
