The peregrine is the fastest animal on the planet, one such bird has been recorded at reaching over 250 mph in a stoop. This is where they fold in their wings and dive after their prey. they do this with no propulsion what so ever and still reach speeds faster than terminal velocity, scientists cannot work it out. although in a flat line a pigeon is faster than a peregrine, in a straight line peregrines can only really reach speeds of about 50 mph.
