this verse is saying that prophets were sent from among mankind and jinns:
"O ye assembly of JINNS and men! came there not UNTO you messengers FROM AMONGST YOU, setting forth unto you My Signs, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. So against themselves will they bear witness that they rejected Faith. S. 6:130

Assalamoalakum brother,

Yes, I have also noticed this, and although I don't know for sure if there were prophets among the jinn, I think that makes a lot of sense. God sent prophets from among every race and type of people, so I can't see how that wouldn't include the jinn. Very good observation. It's funny how sometimes we read something so many times, but don't really notice subtleties like this. I will have to reflect on this. Salam.

Brother Omar,

I have had a discussion with my husband about this, and he has also said that there were no prophets who were jinns, but there were jinns who listened to the messages from the prophets, and accepted Islam, just like humans. SubhanAllah. It is such an amazing thing that they have their own world, and they can cross into ours, but we can't cross into theirs. I think that in itself really does explain this specific verse. They can cross into our world to hear the message from the human prophets, SubhanAllah. All of the prophets were humans, brother. Assalamoalakum.

Yes. This ayat is there. But it means that there were prophets among jinns and there are prophets among men. This ayat is addressing both jinns and men.

Because else where in the Quran, Allah Almighty says that the prophets sent amongst us were men from amongst us. So it stands to reason and logic that all prophets were MEN from their respective community.

We believe; Approx. 124,000 prophets were sent for the guidance of this world - humans and Jinnis. All prophets were human.

If you read the Verse 6:130 carefully you will realize that it is the day of judement when God will ask man and Jinns about their polytheism (Shirk) and wrong doings as against the teachings of his prophets.

There is no indication that Jinn prophets were sent to Jinns and man prophets were sent to man.

Blessings for all.

Good question Omar but I have to agree with lightning. The Quran only mentions Prophets from among humans. We should not tafseer from the Quran with out knowledge.

Like children who can easily believe in monsters, elves and fairies, primitive men believed in shadowy creatures. Muhammad’s belief in Jinns is an indication of the influence that his society had on his impressionable mind. He saw Jinns and angels everywhere.

BTW-literal interpretations of the BIBLE are not completely accurate either.
