would they have really been duped by the likes of Ted Haggard? The rest of us had no trouble spotting a complete scumbag.

I don't think it's that simple. I know a lot of very intelligent, logical people who have faith.

Christianity is "faith" not logic, however many good or bad people there are in it. There are "Teds" in every religion! If it all proves to be true, just think of his poor duped followers! Yet, with all closely knit communities, it will draw them closer together and they will get through it because they need one another.

People mislead people. People are misled by people. God told us to expect this. It seems that it's only people who don't know God that are surprised by any one person's deceit or failing.
