I slept with my ex gf after 3 weeks ( she intitiated things, before that she was really caring and things were going great), after about a month though, everything changed. I realised things about her that i didn't like, and it was like we never really took the time to get to know each other properly.

Sex puts it all on a different level, plane, whatever. Once that has taken place a lot of the suspense of a developing relationship is gone - especially for the woman. Women who initiate sex before commitment either can't wait or want to find out what you have and then make a decision. You realized things because neither one of you felt great the next day once you had defined the relationship as sex based.
Some of the women answering this question try to make light of the fact that they did it on the first date but that is self defense. If they were truthful they would say that things changed but maybe in the direction of sex 20/6 and that is all they wanted in a relationship in the first place.
I'm impressed that you mentioned "taking time" because that is where long term relationship are based. Chances of failing if sex enters picture early on - before strong commitment - are astronomical. Any woman can tell you that.

You could be my ex. This story sounds very familiar, I personally don't think that its the sex that ruined it like you said you never really took the time to get to know each other the longer you are with someone the more you open up you probably don't even realize it until after but sometimes its the small incompatibilities that destroy thing, not sleeping with someone so early in a relationship especially if they initiated it.. I wish you luck with your next girlfriend

I'm just guessing that she decided after the sexual encounter that you weren't exactly what she wanted. Good for you for waiting, bad for her for examining you sexual prowess. You should never be with anyone who makes you feel bad about yourself. There are no two people that sexually perform the same, but the underlying relationship should be about so much more. You sound sincere in your honest wants and desires. The right girl will come along, but I don't think this one is it.

Those things have nothing to do with the fact that you slept together. Many relationships work after they have slept together on the first date. All the other factors would be there regardless of the sex although you sound pretty young so perhaps she has issues when it comes to her confidence & sex.

No, but if you gave it your all the first time, you've got a mountain to climb every time you do after that! And, if you're not all that great in the sack, she'll find out that much sooner...

Sounds like the sex wasn't that good. Maybe she's checking out somebody else. Again she may be a numbers person, there are men like that as well.

In my past experiences if we had sex early on , the relationship didn't last long.. but it may just be because they were promiscuous and i was just too stupid to see that.
