No, you don't have to know. We live in the world because we are part of it. Each of us is a collection of molecules, arranged according to physics, biochemistry and DNA. When we die, our molecules disperse.
Purpose and whys are things that we give ourselves because we like order and need to have goals and a sense of accomplishment.

I do not think there is an easy answer to your question. As one who suffers from MS I have dealt with this question for many years. Personally, I believe that life is a 'boot camp'. We are here to exercise our 'free will'. We must all make some choices-es about 'good and evil', humility and self conceit. To humble ourselves and become contrite before a Holy God for the salvation that is provided through His Son Jesus, or to believe that we are good enough to 'do it' on our own.
Jesus was not just a 'good man'. He said that He is the only way to a personal relationship with God the Father. If this is not true then everything he said is a lie and he is the greatest deceiver in human history and he should not even be considered a good person. I for one have found sweet peace in knowing my sins are forgiven and I will one day live forever with an eternal body that will not feel any pain or sorrow, sickness or death. This life is not forever, but the one to come is forever, and that is worth going through this present 'worldly life' for.

The world is ruled by Satan...as is the world system that Satan created...he has taken the money in darkness, he who has the money has the power...my job is to take back what he stole in darkness and give to the kingdom of light to distribute to the best people that can do the most good with it...the church lives as decadent as the world and has nothing new to offer it...so, the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof...all creation is God's and God created man for his good pleasure...all people are created by God and thusly God's children. I am not sure what my responsibility for the poor children of the earth is.

we enter this world with souls and along with that we get a sorta script whic dictaties what we are to learn...after so many rebirths, and learning is achieved each time at a a higher level..then we reach Nivana /Enlightenment. Then we do not have to return to our earthly shackles. We have arrrived! So accept your roll in this lifetime and do your best....or you will be doomed to repeat it...besides it is easier to accept things as they are and learn from them so as to improve them..NO???
