My best friend is an adult who is having trememdous difficulties getting his life together. He came to America with this parents when he was 6 years old and his parents overstayed their vacation visas which turned him into an illegal resident. He only found this out when he tried to attend college but couldn't get any financial aid. He's 21 years old now and he is incredibly smart and talented and as American as the next Joe. What can he do now, other than leaving the country, to legalize his status? (no ss, no greencard) I gotta help him out!

US immigration law forgives violators under age 18, presuming that they have no power over where they live. After that age, though, it can count against them seriously.

Your friend really does need a very, very good immigration attorney. I'll be happy to suggest the best one in the US who, if he can't take the case, can recommend one almost equally good, if you want to email me privately.

i totally agree w/ dognhorse above.... this was beyond his control and he had no idea.... he just needs a great attorny.... i am sure he will be forgiven for this.... i dunno what would happen to his parents though...
"let him marry somebody whos a citizen.it can be even done a a business marriage. " there is no such legal thing as a business marriage.... this is illegal.... if you friend does this and gets caught, he will be doported, then it will look like he knewn about his situation and hid it....plus that is just down right wrong.... and abuse of our laws....

i am giving you som links you can give him and you can check out..... also conact dognhourse if you like, she always has good posts....

I feel sorry for him. He should be EXTREMELY angry at his parents! He should see an immigration lawyer and his parents should pay for it! They should also get deported!
