Everything you need to know at that link. The only side-effect I've ever had with it is severe stomach cramping and upset stomach when I used it in the past and was not properly hydrated. You need at least your 8 glasses of water (soda and other crap does not count) to safely take creatine. Otherwise, from what I've read, it's safe.

Creatine and whey protein work differently in your body. Creatine is used by your body to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is used by your muscles for short bursts of energy (weight lifting). By storing more ATP in the muscle, you are able to lift a little more than you could without, thus, overloading the muscle more and promoting more growth. Which is where whey protein comes in. Your body uses protein to build the muscle, and whey protein is a way to give your body extra tools to do it.

As with anything else, there are possible side effects. Creatine does cause your kidneys to work more, but with healthy kidneys, this is not a problem. If you have any kidney problems at all, don't use creatine. That's the big one. I've also noticed a little gastrointestinal discomfort for a few days when I first start using it, but it goes away. In some people, it may be worse. I've heard of some that had diarrhea from it.

Whey protein, in extremely high doses, will overload the liver. But, if taken as directed, you body will expel what it doesn't. For muscle growth, you should consume 1.5 to 2 grams of protein for every pound of body weight. Most of this should come from your diet, and then use whey protein to boost it up to this point.

One possible side effect is gout. When taking Creatine as a supp you need to keep the body flushed so drinking water is the way to stop this. About a gallon a day is good if you are working out on a regular basis.
