I mean if it's not an emergency. Like if you're not going to kill yourself, you just need a prescription for drugs or therapy sessions.

Your local town, city has a mental health association. It is usually free for people who cannot afford it. You can dial 211 and they can help you with where the closest mental health clinic is located. Also try your phone book. As far as needing medical coverage, have you tried to apply with the state just for this? Even your emergency room can put you in contact with someone Even if you are not a harm to yourself! You can also call 211 and they can refer you to one closest to you. I use 211 for everything and it's free. Just know there is help out there for you and mental health clinics are available for all!

Depending on where you live...US, Canada or overseas, your state has some resources. (MHMR) Mental Health Mental Retardation will give you access to doc, social workers and medications. They may tell you the budget is limited or they have no counselors, stay with it. They told a friend of mine that. Other friend in Australia is still waiting. Persevere to get the right resources for your health. (the MHMR has a severe long waiting list in some
places)

Many times, the hospitals, social workers can give you lists of places to call. Most larger towns/cities have a Mental Health Center that takes people on a sliding scale fee.

If you are below a criteria of $$, look up the department of Human Resources. You can get other assistance.

The US gov't has social security for those that are ill, etc. but that is long list too. That will also provide help to get monthly meds if needed.

There are resources, it is just hard to locate them.
Good Luck!

Most mental health facilities have a indigent program. Which means they have an organization like red cross pay your bill. You will have to do a new one every month. It pays for therapy and a psychiatrist but not medication.

Contact a local church most of them will give free counseling or see if there is a counseling service close that works on a sliding scale. I have had counseling in the past based on income. I was only charged $25 per hourly session.

It depends on what state you're in. Most states have programs for this, type 'mental health and mental retardation' in a google search, and you should be able to find the Department in your state that will help you.

Check with your state (if you are in the US) The mental health #'s are in the front of the yellow pages or online. Go to your states website and look up mental health.

Contact your county health department or social services department. Someone there should be able to advise you on resources available to you and how to go about getting them.
