I am currently talking to this guy who is a christian and he is wonderful. We are shy when we get on the phone, so shy that we spend the whole time listening to each other basically breathe because we are certainly not talking to one another. We don't talk to one another because we had nothing to talk about.

That is sooo cute-write down questions you should be curios about in any potential mate-how would you expect a first date to go?-When is your birthday?-Interests in future career?-
Stop worrying about what to talk about because that is the worst conversation killer-take a deep-breath and relax like you would with any friend and have something calming around when your on the phone-a favorite stuffed animal or cuddly pillow or a fragrance like vanilla might help.Find out a few of his interests and research them and then ask his opinions about them. I hope that helps a little.

I think Nate got it right...Go with what he said but let me add two small things.

First don't let this discourage you. Hang in there and things will get better.

Second, Choose that Nate Guy as best answer because he put the most thought into this. Please don't wait till it goes to voting. You choose the best answer because some of these people tried to help you.

God Bless.

in a situation like this i would start online, im not sure how old you are, but aol instant messenger is a pretty good way to talk to people. while it isnt as personal as on the phone, you can still avoid the awk silences because he or you could be talking to other people too. thats just one idea, also if you too are a christian, you could always talk about faith.

My GF and I had many long conversations just like that where very little was said. Make smalltalk and ask questions about where he works, what are his hobbies? What career goals does he have? What is his family like? Perhaps you could both read a devotional book or do a simple bible study together and talk about what you learned. Pray together?

try bringing up things that happened in the day and talk about them. You could talk about what you want to do in the next couple of days.

Speak of your mutual interests such as your faith. Share with one another your personal testimonies and life experiences.

If you are both christians, you could talk about jesus.

Otherwise, you could talk about sex I suppose.
