The best we can figure this cat must have been indoors, she had been declawed and spayed. When she happened up to our yard her condition was awful and she was near death from starvation. We are trying to find her owners thinking they would be looking for her, but have no idea the timeline in days or weeks that she went missing. I would say that she would normally weigh about 13lbs, but now weighs only 4lbs and is approximately 5 years old. Can anyone give me an idea of about how long she may have been outdoors to get like this?

We took her to a vet, and all blood work has come back normal. We are happy there are no health issues, and she is eating well and seems to be putting on weight.

I am so glad that you took her to the vet. Since she is eating just give her tons of love.and all the food she wants. It seems to me that who ever had her didn't want her anymore so plan on keeping her, she is much better off with you.

For a cat to be in such poor condition, it's likely she was outside on her own for quite some time. Unless, of course, her owners weren't feeding her. But since they put the money into her that they did (declawing and spaying), I doubt that was the case. Unless they adopted her already declawed and spayed, then the owners could be involved. But I'm not going to include them in this....I'd just guess she's been on her own for a while. Months, at least.

It's good to hear she's doing so well in your care, though, and that she doesn't have any life-threatening illnesses. Good luck and God bless:)

Sounds like she's been out there a long time. But you don't know that because you don't know how well she was being fed before. Was this cat wearing a collar or maybe she has been chipped? I have some experience with animals which are thrown out of the car when the owners are done with them, maybe this is what happened to your cat. cats don't get lost easily, if they want to go home they can find there way. Except when you them out of the car, miles from home.

Its feasible that he has some Bengal or Ocicat interior the background. The markings are incredibly dramatic. usually tabby kin shorthairs don't have those type of ambitious dark markings with the stripes and spots. The physique/head do no longer seem Bengal looking and extremely almost seem extra Ocicat looking. however the markings are extra of a Bengal then an Ocicat. you should call him a Bengal combination in case you like. Technically he's a brown mackerel tabby kin shorthair. you will possibly evaluate showing him interior the kin puppy training in shows - i'm effective he might do nicely. He must be neutered and not declaw to coach him.

Hi there...how sad. It's difficult to determine how long she could've been out alone without food, perhaps for quite some time. 13 to 4 lbs is a lot of weight to lose and fortunately she didn't suffer any ill-effects as it's common for cats to get hepatic lipodosis (fatty liver disease) due to starvation which is fatal.

She is fortunate to have found you in time and be loved. Your efforts certainly will not go unappreciated by her or by any of us here on Yahoo Answers.

Maybe she hopped out of a car or RV, while the family or person was on the move across the US and happened upon you.

In my neighborhood, people move away and leave the cats behind. Shame on them! Anybody moved away lately in your neighborhood?

She could have been randomly dropped off by an idiot, not wanting her anymore.

Good Luck with your new cat! Call her Lucky?
