this point was brought up in another question, Would you run to Canada or Mexico if there was a draft in the US??(( would Canada accept you, there is another point also brought up in Y/A, are canada's bored that well protected from this happening ( and yes they are!!!))... about being a soldier at 17 and 18 yrs old in the US and in Canada that is a person's choice ; right now !!! Remeberance Day is nearing , take time to reflect on what the soldiers in the past wars sacrificed to get us this far in life, as well as the those who fall today!!

i remind some readers that there has never been a "draft" in Canada and our policy according to our PM, is that there never will be one.... on the other hand, there has and probably will be another "draft" in the US!!!

Any pansy that runs from the draft ought to be let go, and then shot in the back when they cross the border. There are thousand (if not millions) of dead men and women that paid their price so that you may live here, but all of a sudden you aren't willing to return the favor. For that, you deserve no country. You cannot take and take and take and never give, the world doesn't work like that.

I was supposed to be drafted despite a history of childhood TB and Night-Blindness. I simply refused and let the Feds catch up with me. When they did I made no bones about my objections and being an Action Vista Volunteer they decided that the prudent thing to do was leave me alone.
Anybody can run but what does it mean unless you are willing to stand up for what you believe.

NOPE
In fact..... My husband at age 41 is going in BCT.. leaving his stable job and our current life to go Reg Army...
He is the most non military person I can think of.. and if he would not run then I cant see why anyone would!
Long as they keep those bonuses and incentives comming to join the military... There will not be another Draft in our country..
Good Luck

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -- John Stuart Mill

I wouldnt Run But I also Dont believe this war is going to get to the point of a draft . Election is soon and when Bush is Out Of Ofiice , I believe The Next President will put an end to this war . It has become an economic depression practiclly so with that in mind we can only go up and out!

Well lucky for me, I'm a girl and they probably wouldn't be drafting women (judging from the past). However, if I was a guy and had the same mindset I have now, I wouldn't run from a draft.
I tried to get into the military but was medically disqualified, totally sucked.

I worry about the draft coming back. The way things are today! My son has talked about going and protecting his country since 9/11 . Its one thing to enlist. but a completely different thing to be drafted. So yes if there was a draft in the US I would take my son and leave before he was drafted.

(I recently joined so this may not apply but...)
If there was a draft (and I had not joined) chances are I would probably go. If I could I might try to join first but if not I would try as best I could to get a job or position of my choosing.

Yeah therewill be another draft in the US cause our leaders are to stupid to use what they have, and all these punk *** kids sit and say "Well why would I go fight for America and die". You know what, move then, GET THE HELL OUT YOU PANSY. If you don't want to fight for your country and freedom you don't deserve it, I think everyone should have to serve. Go in Christ
