I think a spa treatment would be great. The idea of the registry is to basically eliminate everyone buying you a coffee maker....Gift certificates are always a great idea........

you don't have to get an item from the registry. remember that people do registries to help people get to know what they want for a possible gift.
at my wedding i got mostly registry stuff but i also got some great things that were not on my registry. i got a beautiful silver serving bowl, and a vase with our names and wedding date.
as long as you think the couple will appreciate the spa gift then i say go for it

they make the registry for a reason. Yeah they can buy a coffee maker, but there is also maybe 100 other things on that list they need. Stick with the list and give them something different as a wedding gift.Or just give them the cash and let them decide on how they will spend it.

That is completely appropriat to buy something not on the registry. People go and register so you can get an idea of a gift if you are completely lost, it gives the gift buyer insight to the taste and style of the receiver of the gift. You seem to know exactly what you want to buy and that is completely alright. Have fun and happy shopping. Remember gift giving should be from the heart, and you seem to have your idea in the right place.

yes. alot of times when people have things on a gift registry its so that when they get the gifts, and they get like 10 blenders, they can take it back and get cooler things. i, personally would have loved a certificate for a spa as my wedding present. go for it. if they absolutly hate it, then buy them the coffee maker and go yourself.

You do not have to buy from the registry if you don't want to. Those are just suggestions.
However, gift certificates are considered impersonal gifts, just like giving money. I would recommend something else, soemthing they would keep to remember the occasion and friendship always, but it's up to you.

Yes, it is totally appropriate. They will get plenty of housewares and If their parents are like mine, whatever we didn't get from our registry, they bought for us. A spa gift is a great idea and it's different.

you don't have to shop from the registry.
the registry is there so you can know what they want and need.
but the very best gifts i received were gifts people wanted to give me! gifts special from you to them are wonderful!
they are sure to enjoy it!
God bless

You do not have to buy from the registry. I'm sure they'd welcome something special like the spa day.
