Sounds Like the battery is either Flat or Faulty!
Alternatively , if the camera has been dropped or banged, that may account for it's Shutting Down!
Take back to original Supplier(If within Warranty time)
And Remember your Documentation!
Hope this Helps!

Most of them have a setting that allows for them to shut off after a specific amount of time to conserve the batteries... usually something like 30 seconds or 1 minute. If it has turned of, just press the shutter release, click the photo preveiw switch or even use the zoom in/out switch. If the batteries are to weak or dead, a camera will turn itself off and in most cases won't come back on until new batteries are installed. If it still won't come on some thing more serious may be wrong with your camera and you need to have it looked at. Check your warranty papers and take it back where you got it from if you can. If you can't return it or have it looked at locally, you may have to mail it to the address listed in the paperwork.

Just push the power button again. Check to see how long you have set the auto-off feature.

Or - maybe the monitor is just turning off after 20-30 seconds, which can also be changed by the user.
