If you are not sure than call a friend right away and let them know your situation and ask them to come over to be with you for an hour or so if necessary. That will help you relax just knowing that you have a friend to help you right now.
If you fell asleep on your left side then it is very possible that you may have "put pressure on a nerve" which resulted in this tingling and numbness down your left arm and hand.
You didn't say if you were stressed before this happened or because this happened. Breathe deeply and slowly and think relaxing thoughts (I know that is not easy right now).
Also repeatedly make a fist and open your hand to see if the pain subsides.
Also move your left arm around to see if that helps also.
Then if you feel OK walk around a bit to get the blood flowing and to relieve some stress and to change the posture of the spine.
Then if you still have this pain go to the emergency room at the hospital and get checked out. Sincerely, H

You could very well be having a heart attack. Your mind can play tricks if this is happening in your sleep and conjur up your worst fears as being the reason for creating what is happening. Get to a hospital prompto. Call 911. The sooner you get there the better your chances of not only surviving but of surviving without damage. Once your heart muscle is damaged it is scarred and cant be healed. So time is of the essence.
Whatever it is you are stressed about IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Time to make some lifestyle changes. This world is going to go on with or without you. Relax and enjoy what time you have in it.

I had anxiety attacks and it felt like I was having a heart attack. I had horrible pain in my chest and couldn't take a deep breath, but my arm didn't hurt and there was no numbness.
You might should see a doctor to be sure it wasn't a heart attack. In the mean time take an aspirin just in case it was.
The devil can only do what you allow him to do. Tell him to get behind you and he will. When you feel vulnerable start praying and ask God to protect you. Get a mental picture of His Angels standing next to you with their wings enfolding you. The image is very comforting and will calm you down. Best of luck to you Sweetie and remember God loves you and will help you when you ask for help through Jesus Christ. God be with you

You probably got that numbness because you were sleeping to the left and the left arm didn't get enough blood circulation. It will be alright after a short while. Massaging the area will also increase the blood flow.
if u believe in devil you must also believe in God, hey say your prayers before you go to sleep.
If you are so skeptical about devil, please clear you mind. Things happen if you let your mind imagine things.

Better safe than sorry. Get to an ER or doctor right away if you suspect a heart attack.
Afterward, if it turns out to not be one (you could have just slept on the arm wierd), check out this article on sleep paralysis: http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20050709/bob9.asp
It tells why people sometimes have waking dreams that someone or something is sitting on or crushing their chest. Apparently it's not an uncommon occurance.
