I fly all over the world with my laptop. Just one thing to note: Make sure the carry case in which your laptop resides is not too big.
There are now new regulations with regard to the size of hand luggage.
Check out the airline (the one your flying with of course) website.
Its okay to carry both on a plane.
You might be asked to start it up and it will also for sure be x-rayed on its own.
There is no airport " TAX " to pay, I think someone has ripped off that poor girl...lol

No problem with either. You'll have to take it out of its carrying case to go through security. Plus, whenever I have an Ipod in my bag, they pull me aside and go through it.
