My mom only wanted 3 but had 5. The resentment was obvious, from eveybody when the two "brats" started acting up. I feel that if my parents stopped at 3 we would have had a better quality of life. Even now I feel ashamed to admit they had 5 children by 27 and 28, and some people had way more. That's unfair to the children as noone can afford to give that many kids an education, new clothes and quality one on one time. And the grandchildren will come pouring in and the broke parents wont be able to spoil them at all. If you have a half dozen or more children do you live on a farm and are raising children like cattle for helping hands? If so then I hope they leave you high and dry for the city life.

My parents had 11 kids. The youngest is 8 and the oldest is ummm 27... I think. My parents now both agree that they had too many. My mum is at an age now where she just wants to relax but she can't because she still has 3 kids at home. I pity my mother very much. We were always fighting each other and causing her so much stress.
11 kids is definitely too many!
Really it depends on the couple. I'm pregnant with child no.2 and my husband and I agree that there will be no more.

Too many is when you cannot afford to clothe and feed your family. For us, our magic number is 4 kids. Its just what we want. Some people think 2 kids is too much. Its all about personal preference, feelings from the family size the person was raised in, and how many the person can actually have.

It depends on what you are able to handle emotionally and financially as a couple. Some people can have 6 + kids...and others can only handle 1 or 2. It also depends on how your body handles it. My mother had 4 children, and having the 4th child almost killed her physically. Because of that, my parents decided that 4 kids was it.

That really depends on the family itself. Some parents can only handle one child. Some really can't handle theirs at all. Some, can handle quite a few.
I'll give you my personal scenario. My neighbor has 3 kids. They run around and scream all day - 2 are being evaluated for ADHD & other problems. My cousin has only one child, and she can't even handle him.
I, on the other hand - have 5 children. Twins on the way. My house is structured, we have rules and schedules. My kids are gifted & talented, and for the most part well behaved. And, beautiful. I always think it's funny when people are in shock that I have so many children, but for my family, it doesn't feel like a lot. Granted, with 7 children, I am now done. But 7 is a good number for me. I put my kids first, and do the best that I can to be a good mother.
So a mom should only have as many as she can handle. At some point, they say "done."

It depends on the couple. It depends on their income and resources. We are expecting our third and would really like to have a fourth. I think anything over that would be too many for us financially and time wise. For us, four just seems ideal. But I've known people with 10 kids and they make it work. I'd rather not do that but if someone wants to...why not?

It all depends on the couple. My maternal Grandma had 10 children,my paternal grandma had 8, my mother in law had 12, my mom had 4 and I have 2.
I think it all should be up to the couple, can they handle more than 4? Should they stop at 2?

I wouldn't go to someone and say that they have too many kids, but since you asked: yes. This is a small world that is already overpopulated. I think it's extremely selfish for people to act like they're trying to populate the earth.
