I have to get a tetanus shot very soon. I know that my arm is going to be sore, but what should I do to help it from being really sore. I have heard of having someone rub it... what else? I really hate needles, so I also have trouble because I tense up. I am really nervous. Which arm should "get it"? Help... I need good advice.

Tetnus hurts so much because it is injected directly into your muscle. The best thing you can do is really try to relax your arm as much as possible and when you get home put some ice(wrapped in a towel) on the site for 15 minutes and repeat throughout the rest of the day and into the next. You can also take some advil or tylenol prior to your visit to help reduce the inflammation.

I had a tetanus shot like 7 weeks ago and my arm has been sore for about a week. I don't think that is normal.

Any soreness, can be reduced by applying warm cotton cloth over it, how to make the cotton cloth warm.
Make a round buldle fist size cotton cloth, show that ball over the fire flame, let the cloth absorb heat check with your palm the cloth is warm enough not to burn yourself if the ball becomes very hot. Then apply it on the sore spot, even if you muscle pulls or sore muscles you can do this, its like applying heat thearapy, any soreness comes due to tensing up of muscles, the warm heat pressed on the spot help flow of blood and also loosens up the muscles around the sore area.

Hope this helps.

I just got a pneumonia shot and I woke up that night with my arm really sore! Take Ibuprofen, that did the trick for me, took 2 days to get over it though!

before your injection take a couple of tylenol or advil and get the shot in arm you don't write with - after your vaccine you can apply warm compresses to the site of the injection to ease any swelling or pain.

When i was younger..after me n my bro got our shots..we'd be sore the next day. N we'd wrestle n we'd punch eachothers legs cuz that's where we got the shot. The next day..it's gone. haha..u could t ry that. or u could just massage ur arm..which also works as well.

Make sure you have them warm the fluid in the syringe to body temperature before injecting it. Works for me every time.
