I have always fed my kittens Purina Kitten Chow. I seems to be very good for them. They have grown up big and strong. No health problems.

Wellness, Nature's Variety, Natural Balance, and Solid Gold. Wellness and Solid Gold I know have kitten formulas, but I'm not sure about Natural Balance. Nature's Variety is an "all life stages" food. My cat doesn't like Nature's Variety much, but he LOVES Wellness.
Avoid foods made with corn and meat by-products. When you feed them those things, you're basically filling your cat up on beaks, feet, and a filler with absolutely no nutritional value. Corn contributes to obesity and feline diabetes.
And yes, the "cheap" brands and brands like Science Diet and Iams aren't much different. This should tell you something. If you want a food that's not quite as expensive as the ones listed above, but far better quality than most, try Nutro Max Cat.
And don't given kittens milk. Once they've been weaned (this is usually done between 6 and 8 weeks) they no longer need any milk....and cow's milk can give them digestive upset because they lack the enzymes to properly digest the lactose. Formula made for human babies usually contains lactose. The only milk a kitten should be given is a kitten replacement milk, and this is only if they're not old enough to be on solid food.

My cat was "the runt of the litter". She was about the size of the palm of my hand and came with pets of her own called fleas.
My Uncle owned a Purina feed store in Nebraska when I was a child and he taught me that Purina was a good product for farm to home, from chicken to kitten.
My cat, about 4 years old, is happy & healthy and weighs about 15 lbs.
I'm sure there's better products out there, at least more expensive and lower preservative, less coloring, and whatever is "in" at the time, but I'll stick by Purina.

Is this the dry cat food person?
Either way, A medium grade dry kitten formula, like Purina Kitten Chow or Purina One Kitten formula.

IAMS or the best you can afford. Your kitten is dependent on good food to lay the foundation for good bones-teeth-brain, everything, etc. In the long run- you will have less physical troubles & visits to the vets. Good Luck

We fed our kitty kitten chow. Then, when it's time for adult cat food, you have to gradually mix it in. If you just abruptly switch, the cat might not eat it.

i usually used one of the cheaper brands. read the side of the bag of an expense one and a cheap one. they are pretty much the same ingredients.vets will tell you to buy the brand they sell. it is high priced and they make money off of the sale.
