I am out of my Ambien prescription (been taking for a couple of years) and I am trying to go to sleep without taking them. I haven't taken one in about a week and a half. It is 2:00 or 3:00 in the mornig before I can go to sleep, and I have to be at work at 8:00am. Will this eventually pass? Is there anyone else out there that has this problem? I know I can't stay on them forever, but I need to shut my mind off and start getting some sleep. I take 2 Tylenol pm before bed or Melotonin (natural vtiamins to help sleep) and it doesn't help.

I have also tried Benadryl & Lunesta. Lunesta leaves a horrible taste in my mouth for some reason.

Try getting regular exercise everyday. People who exercise regularly tend to have less trouble falling and staying asleep. You should also try going to bed at the same time every night. That means no naps during the day, regardless of how little sleep you had the night before. It may take a few weeks, but it should eventually become a habit. I worked a 7a-7p shift for years and had a lot of trouble trying to fall asleep once my schedule changed. I took ambien for some time and had the same experience you're currently having. This was what worked for me, but it did take some getting used to.

There is a lot of reasons for the problem - Insomnia. First of all, what is your age? Why i that Ambien ordered for you? What is your type of work/ activity? I need to consider atleast these aspects before answering you.
But you may try these tips for better sleep and a fresh morning:
Walk to the maximum that you can by evening and once you are exhaused get in to a car/ bus/ taxi and get home back. this will make you to get worked physically before your bed time. Mental, you get enough time to think on what ever you want to think on so that your mind be near empty by the time to be in the bed
Have dinner early, like 6pm or 6:30. Eat enough but not a lot to make you feel too full.
Never lie down till you are sleepy.
No physical activities close to your bed time.
Do the bed time rituals if any.
Never ever sleep or have nap during day.
Now relax you are not alone, there are many with insomnia. Do not be frustrated. Have a Good Night Sleep.

If you have true insomnia have had to take something as strong as ambien them it is sad but OTC things will not help you much. They are just simply differant chemicals and your body is used to the ambein. I have taken it before, it did not work for me well I was one of those that did very strange things at night and did not remember it. And now I usually don't get to sleep until after 3am, it is a fun life isn't it? Maybe you should take to your doctor about something less addivtive? They have came out with some new ones that the body doesn't start to depend on. Not sleeping if hard and after all these year I have not found alot that helps me. This last year has been better but only due to the pain killers I have had to use due to surgerys. Good luck on your hunt for piece.

Plenty more cities if we look outside of the US but within the US, I think this is a pretty good list (except I don't know if it's fair to count Dallas-Fort Worth and Minneapolis-St. Paul as separate cities; kinda like how the Bay is seen as one area). There are probably a few different reasons for why these cities don't have notable artists. Some cities fall under the shadow of others. For example, two of the six members of the Visionaries are from San Diego but the crew is by and large seen as being from LA. Dallas-Fort Worth is the scene that I am most familiar with. There are a couple of issues that I see there. One, people automatically think that all Texas rappers are from Houston. Two, fans there aren't critical enough. So a lot of cats end up thinking that they are better than they are and don't catch on elsewhere. Then the rappers that *are* good either get caught up in that stigma or move elsewhere to get their recognition (like DOC).

I am like that too, like right now, it is 11:03 and i'm not asleep yet. reading is a great way to get sleepy. i've heard that if you thing about what is going to come the next day too much, you can write them down in a (big) piece of paper to remember about it when you wake up. Forget about the tasks for the next day because they will be written down. I think that mediating might help. excersise until you get a little tired. I don't suggest to get tired as fast as possible because that will get you tired for a short period. That is all i remember, i'm getting sleepy (yaya). goodluck and goodnight.

I have the same..can't get to sleep struggles...Its hard to pinpoint the correct advice. It takes me til 2 or 3 to get tired enough to fall asleep. It causes anxiety that makes it even harder to sleep as the normal sleep time approaches. For me reading helps the most...you lay in bed and read and you get totally relaxed and your mind is focused on something else and some characters troubles in the book.....sleep tight

Try doing what I do take a shot of NyQuil before bed, also try to start a sleep cycle and stick to it. That also means no super late weekends either. Good luck!

How much of the tylenol pm are you taking? Most people dont know that if you take too much of tylenol pm that it will have the opposite reaction than what is desired. Try just taking one or two.. Or you could always call your dr and ask them to give you another rx. Or order online. hehe.
