i'd try one of these:
draped CHIGNON: part the hair of the front half of ur head. comb the side hair & scoop the bakck hair into a low ponytail. Loosely braid the ponytail, secure with small band, tuck end under in a loop & secure with hair pins. take the loose hair on the left & comb it in a curve back to the ponytail. swirl this hair over & under the loop & secure with pins. do the same to the left.

PLAITY BUN: if u put ur hair in a ponytail & mini-plait the ends for the day, in ur hour to get ready u can pin them around it, creating a mass of loops. looks great, i used it 4 a party once.

TWISTy BUN: put all hair in a high ponytail. divide off a small section of hair & mist with shine spray(optional) holding the ends of the section, twist the hair until it rolls bakc on itself to form a coil. position th ecoil in a loop on ur head & secure with pins. do this to sections of hair until all hair is used. decorate by intertwining a strip of sequins/ribbon/

FRENCH TWIST: backcomb all hair. smooth across to centre back & form the centre of the pleat by criss-crossing bobby-pins in a row from the crown downwards (holds the hair to one side.) smooth hair around from other side (covers pins), leaving front section free, & tuck ends under. secure with pins, then lightly comb the front section up and around to merge with the top of the pleat. mist with hairspray to hold.

id try each b4 the event if i was u. the french pleat takes some practice & ive neva used the chignon.

You should consider wearing your hair up in a wrap or since you're going to a formal consider going to a hairstylist and bring the dress with you to get an idea of an appropriate hairstyle for that dress. Set the appointment for the day of the event for earlier that day and shower the same day and then go and have your hair done so you don't ruin it when you're getting dressed and make sure that you get proper make up tips to coordinate your make up with your hair and you should be all set :-D

A updo is always a classic way of wearing your hair. Have you ever considered a "tonipony" they are hair pieces that clip on your ponytail. They have curly, straight, long, short, any color even highlighted. I can't tell you how many times I just threw my hair in a ponytail and "bam" instant glam! They sell them at americasstore.com I'm sure you could get one express delivered. Check it out you might like it. Good luck and most of all have fun cause that what its all about.
