I cheated on my boyfriend almost a year ago, how can I get over it? I feel awful. It was during a period when our relationship was long-distance and the man and I didn't have sex, just fooled around. I still can't believe that i broke his trust like that though. I keep beating myself over the head with it...how do I forgive myself and get on with it?

I already told him, a week after it happened.

He already knows. This is my own guilt for hurting someone I love.

Give it another try, it may be easier to get over it the second time. Experience helps.

Unfortunately, you will never get over it until you tell him what happened. The fact that you guys did not have actual sex will make a difference just explain that you were lonely and that you made a mistake. This similar thing happened to me and I tried to pretend that it didn't happen and just forget about it but I couldn't handle it, I felt so guilty! I decided to tell him and hoped for the best but he deserved the truth cause the guy was a friend of his to and he just kept coming around and making the situation worse. I really don't know how guys do this and live with the guilt I can't. Everything worked out in the end and we forgave each other and I believe it only made us stronger, I wish you luck and hope you make the right decision.

Depends on what you mean by "fooled around". If you went far, but not all the way, don't feel guilty. Your guilt will show through to your boyfriend. Feel relieved that you at least controlled yourself.
What's happened has happened. Let bygones be bygones.
And, take my advice, for whatever it's worth.
DON'T CONFESS TO YOUR BOYFRIEND.
That'll be a blunder.
Cheer up. :-) .

don't beat yourself up forever over this, just be as good as u can now to him. in accepting you did a wrong is half the battle, u didn't have sex with him. u have to forgive yourself, it serves no purpose to keep feeling this guilt, just go on with life, do your best, and all will work out.

Don't tell him, all that would do is make him feel worse. Forgive yourself and move on, it's ok you are a good person. Try to understand that it really isn't that big a deal and you are just blowing it out of proportion in your own mind. IT'S OK!

Some would say you didn't really cheat...all that much. Look at it this way: you weren't married or engaged, right? You had a lapse in judgment. You slipped up. He wasn't there. It just happened. You won't do it again. See? You're OK. Now, move on.

Sounds like you don't really want to be w/your bf, if so then you would move on and try and do right by him the second time around.....

you need to own up for your mistake and get over it. It sounds like you don't regret it, you just hate that you feel guilty.

Tell him and move on with your life. Everyone makes mistakes.

Come clean with your boyfriend, sit him down and get it off of your chest.
