Most warts are a type of non-malignant tumor, this means that they are not cancerous. Some people are born with warts, some people develop warts over time. They are easily removed through quick, painless freezing procedures done in the doctor's office, but you can also purchase home-freezing products like Compound W and Dr. Scholls to take care of them yourself.
Some warts, like genital warts and warts caused by herpes, are dangerous. They can flare up and cause extreme discomfort, rashes, secretions, and may also be spread to loved ones via sexual contact or sharing of utensils or dishes (if you have herpes of the mouth). The best way to prevent outbreaks and spreading said warts is to consult your doctor and get a control plan that's right for you; there are numerous prescription drugs to control your warts and minimize spreading them, but as always the easiest way to keep them to yourself is to abstain from sex and sharing cups, forks, etc. until your outbreak is over.

Nothing, they are just infections caused by viruses. One type I know of are the plantar warts that people get on the feet and can be very painful and may need to be removed if the roots go deep enough.

Depends on the warts and what kind they are. Genital warts cause HPV virus...in women and that sometimes, a lot of times causes cervical cancer. Why do you ask? Anyone with genital warts needs to practice really safe sex and not spread them around.

Warts are actually a virus. I had one up until a month ago. I had it tied really hard with string to cut the circulation from my body. it dried up really nasty and i pulled it off. graffic yes. i looked it up in Wikipedia.org and that is where i researched cause I didn't like having the wart. You can Burn it with acid, freeze it with nitrogen...or tie it which is what i did, i'm not sure if it's going to grow back.

Normal skin warts that are not STDs are contagious but harmless. As kids my sister and I both ended up with a few little bumps from neighbor kids that were particularly susceptible. In particular I had an embarrassing one on my knee. But I always heard that they run their course over so many years and eventually disappear. I had this one for MANY years, and one evening in the fall in my later teens I suddenly noticed it just up and disappeared. Finally! lol
