Queen,
I am African American and I never had lice, nor did I know anyone who had lice. I never thought that African Americans got it.
My ex, who is a surgeon in a low income Caucasian neighborhood, said that lice affects all ethnicities, usually in lower income brackets.

Hi...my girlfriends African American daughter had head lice from school. She used grease on her as well. It didn't stop the louse from attaching the eggs to her hair.
I am a cosmetologist and I believe as long as you do not share hats, combs, scarves, jackets, or clothes...you can be fairly safe. As lice do not jump, but crawl extremely fast. Just as a precaution check at the scalp periodically, at the nape, behind the ears, and in the crown. Good luck...because it is a lot of work if your child does get it.

I'm black and I never got lice, but my sister did because of an infestation at one of the elementary schools we went to. Didn't use grease though and we both have mixed hair types. Perhaps it had something to do with proximity?

No, at least I never heard of ANY blacks who had lice. Its hard to the eggs to attach to the texture. Just as in a male who has short cropped hair, white or black, nothing to attach to.

I wrote an article about this!
I have put the link to it below.
Don't leave it to luck or greasing the hair. Learn to comb with a very fine comb to check and remove any little visitors before they ever cause a problem. You can get an ultra fine comb through any hair if you lubricate it properly. (we have treated thousands of children with hair like your daughter's)

Race has nothing to do with lice, nor does using greece. Anyone can get lice if the occasion arise.

Girl if you misspell grease one more time..................Putting grease in the hair doesn't kill lice but it can prevent you from getting lice.

No, African-American's don't get lice because our scalp is dry and them bugs will die because they have to live in a silky scalp type. You know what I mean? Which is cocassion's.
I don't think keeping your daughter's hair greased is going to prevent lice. Just make sure she is not around people that do have lice because the bugs could hop into her hair.
Don't keep your daughters scalp dry either because it can fall out and she could get sores in her head.
Don't Worry!!!
